running out of 777 for my nma's, i see that cabelas carries black mz, any words of wisdom or just stick with 777. no, bp is not an option since no one stocks it in my area.
 
Prices on the site I linked include hazmat fees. You pay the same fee for one pound that you pay for 50 pounds. Just saying.
 
looks like 5 lbs is the min order, not having $100 to layout for powder [trying to buy a colt 1860] i am happy with 1 lb at a time.

5 lb. lot: $24.40 per lb.
10 lb. lot: $19.05 per lb.
25 or 50 lb. lot: $15.40 per lb.
Price includes shipping and hazmat fee.
 
I use Alliant Black MZ for reloading .45 Colt for much the same reason. I just don't have the spare cash for large amounts of BP, unfortunately.

Back to Alliant Black, it's okay. Clean up is easy, the rounds have a lot of 'umph' to them, but it isn't Triple 7. I'd say grab a pound and give it a try.
 
Yeah I use Black MZ in .45 LC too, works very nice. It also ignites more easy than tripple 7, BMZ a good choice for flintlocks (using a tiny bit real BP down the barrel first of course). It only comes in ffG size.
