Bitten By the Handgun bug....

So I now have my first hand gun, the M&P 9c, probably taking my ccw class next week, so I should have my permit to carry soon. I was sitting around today after the range and just kind of made a mental list of what guns I would like to acquire, probably by putting them on lay away one at a time. I guess you can say I've been bitten by the handgun bug, here's the list I kind of thought up, I have shot pretty much every one of these on my list, either a friends or renting. here goes the list:

-Walther P99 compact 9mm
-Glock 23
-HK USP compact in either 357 sig, or 45
-A 1911 .45 haven't decided on the brand, or model yet
-and a Snub Nose revolver in .357 magnum, again haven't decided on what brand or model yet

I have shot the Walther P99, The glock 23 numerous times, and have shot HK USP's in .45, 357 sig, and .40 S&W. I have only ever shot one revolver, a
6 inch barrel 357 magnum, can't remember the brand, and have shot one of my buddies 1911's again can't remember the brand.

There is no particular order I plan to purchase these in, just whenever I run across a good deal on one I'll put it on lay-away.

Yeah, I've noticed that like cars, or cameras, it's hard to have enough. Right now the Tokarev is looking mighty good to me.

After acquiring three guns in about as many months (A Hi-point C9, a PT111, and a Bersa .380cc for her), my wife made me sign an agreement not to buy another for three years in order to get permission to buy my G19. I agreed because four guns in five months was the beginning of a real bad habit. If I had lots of discretionary income, that would be one thing, but collecting guns when struggling to make rent and car payments just don't mix. Too bad, too, cause I really want a pocket gun like a PM9 or LCP. Oh well, there'll be a better selection (and maybe even .380 ammo) by the time I can get one since it's a growing sector of the market.

All good choices! :)

I'd get the H&K USP .45 first, but that's just me. Possibly the 1911. Then there's the GLOCK......

Awww, hell. I smell a bulk-buy!

lol, I wish I had the money to just buy all of these right now. Sucks being a broke college student. Like I said I am going to just go one handgun at a time until I build my collection. That being said my next gun will probably be either the HK USP, or the snub nose revolver, depends on what kind of deals I stumble upon at the local ranges and gun shops. I have shot a few USP's in 357 sig, 45, and 40, an I'll tell you they are very nice guns, and I would love to own one. I guess I just need to hit the lottery, then the bulk-buy looks a lot more realistic.

I suggest that prior to buying a 357 snubby, rent one and try it. They are hard to shoot and beat the crap out of you if you get a light weight one. I did recently buy a Ruger SP101 3" and it is fine with 357, but it is heavy and not a true snubby. If I were you and if you are thinking about CCW, I would look for a compact version of the gun you have. Or, at least stay with the same caliber. G23 are popular but I don't care for them. The 40 is snappy and the grip is like holding a 2"x2". I had a G17 and shoot my bother's G23. I find in making rapid shots, I have to re-grip the G23. Niegher just bought a Beretta 92Elite(?) and a CZ PO7. The PO7 is a keeper. I'd go that rout.

When you start building your collection, you need to include a .22, either a revolver or semi-auto. They're fun, they're cheap to shoot, and everyone just needs a .22.

all of those are great buys and id take pinetree's advice on renting that snubby. little .357's can be very brutal to shoot. i want a p99 really bad too.

im waiting on my CCW also and i thought id share this with you: i recently picked up a copy of In the Gravest Extreme by Massad Ayoob and i would highly recommend, if not insist, that anyone wanting to carry should read. it has taught me alot that i am really glad to know.

Definetly need a .22. I like the p22, because its funner than the practical .22 pistols, but in all reality, a .22 pistol is not all that practical to begin with:D Just make sure you put threadlock or something on the barrel nut.

I know how you feel....I just picked up a 9c. My fourth pistol in my collection, I'm going to look at some 1911's later on this week my BIL has 4 for sale and we've worked out a payment plan...LOL

I've got a list of firearms 10 years long.:D

If I only had all those pistols I've sold or traded over the years back, then my list would only be 9 years long.
