Both NATO and European loadings for the 9mm are hotter than American SAAMI loads. I've heard some say that the standard European load exceeds our +P loads for 9mm. I'm curious about how that came to be. Anyone know of a good source that explains why the standard 9mm in America was established well below the European standard? Also, does anyone know of a source of European load data with powders used in the USA that can be compared to the data in my reloading manuals? With most manufacturers today trying to sell their 9mm world-wide, why has the American standard remained below the European standard even when the pistols must be designed to handle the hotter loads if a manufacturer expects to sell worldwide? Thanks.
