Bird's Head Vaquero

I have seen one or two bird's head grip conversion kits for the Vaquero, but they all come with synthetic grips (i.e.plastic). Does anyone know of a conversion that utilizes wood grips?

I've never seen a conversion kit that uses wood panels. I have seen conversions done, though, in which the standard Ruger rosewood grip panels were reshaped and fitted to the gun -- nice. I can find the name of the gunsmith that did it if you're interested. I think this guy used one of the "standard" birdshead kits, which often require fitting.

Milt Morrison, owner of Qualite, located in CO manufactures the bridshaed grip frame sold by Brownells and Dillon Precision. They are available in brass or stainless. The grip frames can be ordered directly from Qualite without the plastic grips for a slight savings. Any standard (late model) Blackhawk/Vaquero grip can be easily fitted to his grip frame. It is a matter of simply rounding and recontouring the grip.
