Birchwood/Casey Gunstock Wax Help

I put some of this on the forearm of my shotgun and after it dried for a few hours, it left these little white streaks in the wood. What could be causing this? Do I just need to buff it with a cloth so this won't happen again? Thanks for your help.

I've never used this product (I never use anything containing silicone on wood, as it complicates repairing a finish) -- but in general, a "clear" or light-colored wax, used on a dark wood, is likely to leave deposits in the pores of the wood. If the forearm is dark wood, this might be the problem.

Also, liquid waxes contain solvents that may react with some finishes, causing icky things to happen. Your best bet is always a good-quality, hard paste wax.

You can use a lambs wool buffer, the same ones used on a car, and it will work. Most pros use these on a bench mounted buffer, after applying wax. You can use the hand buffs too, it just takes some elbow grease.
