Bipod on an H&R Survivor

Howdy folks. Assembling my first rifle.

As the title says I'm looking to install a bipod on my H&R survivor. It basically just has a hollow plastic forend. I've seen pictures of these rifles with them (not attached to a swivel stud it seems), but I've no idea how they have them installed otherwise. Can anyone point me to a bipod that's compatible?

mine just hooks on the sling stud. don't think I've seen anyone put a bipod on their H&R/NEF any other way.

why don't you want to mount one on the sling stud?

you have to drill a hole in the forearm and put a sling stud in it. they have studs that have a nut on the back side that tightens it down.

Be careful positioning that bipod on the Handi. We've learned that Handi's shoot best when supported closer to the trigger guard. When I'm benching my Handi's I put the front bag under the hinge point, touching the trigger guard.

The experience of the guys at the Handi Forum have mirrored my experience. Some of them drilled/tapped holes toward the rear of their forearms to mount a bipod. They report good results with the bipod further to the rear than you might expect.

There is a good thread here. LINKY. With lots of pictures.
