Bipod for my Savage .270

So, you spent several hundred on a gun and want to buy a cheap bi-pod to put on it? Look at a few and if you can buy a decent one or a very good one for a few bucks more, I might be inclined to save up a bit for the better one.

Anyway, Harris is the best out there but Shooters Ridge and I believe Caldwell both make bi-pods that supposed to be pretty good too. That's where I'd start looking.

Keep in mind that bi-pods come in various lengths so figure out how you will use it before you buy one. Prone? Sitting? A combo of both?

I use a Harris for going out west and it works well for both positions.

I've had a Caldwell and it was sufficient for hunting, albeit a bit flimsy. I still use it occasionally. It was not adequate on my target gun, so I got a Harris. Big improvement! It is very stable, rock solid, and quicker to deploy. If all you can afford is a Caldwell and you aren't expecting to shoot groups, the Caldwell will be fine for hunting.
