I'm looking at, and already own, a Taurus pistol. I know many here, including myself, are put off, to one degree or another, about the LARGE logos some mfr's put on their weapons. Is it possible to have these logos removed without damaging the finish or functionality of the weapon? Otherwise, I may have to pay extra for a Kimber. And again, please no Taurus bashing

Are you talking on the steel? I don't know much, well lets be honest, I know NOTHING about 1911's, but as far as brand markings go, why don't you just buy from a manufacturer that spells quality to YOU, and enjoy that brand? It's not exactly like Adidias or Nike, a gun brand means something. What exactly is your distaste about it?

I really don't mind the banner too much. What gets me, is that on some of the tauruses (tauri?), that the logo seems rolled on really crooked. That would annoy me. I know some people hate the one on my Smith, but it really doesn't bother me.

I have no problem with the big Taurus logo across my Pt111. At least it's in a decent-looking font. It's not like it's a big custom job with a logo on it. It isn't meant to be or look like a custom anything. A good analogy is that if I had a full custom chopped and dropped hot rod, it wouldn't have any logos on it to mar the sweet flame paint job. But I've got no problem with the Nissan or Toyota or Chevy logo on my regular every-day car.

As far as that goes, Colt could have put 1991A1 about half the size they did, on my slide, and I would be happy. The lettering is not even stylish. And there is no pretty pony on it as a consolation. A Colt without a horse is like a chevy without a bowtie.

Honestly I am glad S&W decided to tone it down a bit when they put their logo on my 1911PD TRS. If I could only find a way to get rid of that stupid "Caution: capable of firing with magazine removed" ugh.

Just get a Dan Wesson Bobtail mine just says classic in small letters No reason to be able to read name at 10yds on a dark night.

Meant to mention the warning labels. Logos all over, whatever, but warning labels etched on my slide or molded on my frame...F You!
If you want to put a warning label on there--like somehow the warning is going to matter to someone who need to be reminded that their GUN is dangerous--then make it a sticker. At the very least, I'll have to look at the warning to remove it.

In most contexts, billboards are meant for advertising. Why advertise something you already own? Put me down as one who detests the "in your face" logos.

As to removing the offending verbiage, if it's only lightly etched on I've seen some examples where people have successfully removed them with the judicious use of light abrasives. However, keep in mind that some people actually like () the "billboard" effect, and that removing it or any other stampings or imprints will almost always detract from any resale value.
