The Bill of Rights applies to the government, not private enterprise. It has no bearing on private property at all. I have no right to free speech in your living room...it's as simple as that.

In order to effectively fight for your rights, you first have to know what your rights are.

I don't usually like to rock the boat but this statement made me ILL! The Bill Of Rights applies to the citizens of the United States of America not the government. Also I do have the right to free speech in your living room (private property) it just does not give me the right to stay there once I have run my mouth to the point that the owner of the living room wants me gone.
I agree with Antipapas that TFL reserves the right to shut a thread down because it is something that the Mods/owners don't agree with, but for a mod to openly make a statement like the one above doesn't give much credibility to this board either.

Seriously?

1. The BoR only applies to citizens? If a man moves here from Germany and decides to start a newspaper that critizes the government can he be arrested for what he prints because he's not protected by the first amendment?

2. If a Swedish man is on vacation in Orlando can he be arrested, searched and thrown in jail without probable cause and kept without due process because he's not protected by the 4th and 5th?

3. Do you really believe you're allowed to come into my home with a firearm even though I don't want you to?

I didn't say "ONLY" and should have added that it applies to citizens of the United States AND the Government.

WHAT does that have to do with the 1st? But to answer your question, No, but If I come in and don't know that you would not allow me to come in with a firearm I would say yes. Do you have a sign posted on your door saying "No Firearms beyond this point"

Ok, then it's not "only" but what about the things I mentioned? Are residents and visitors subject to being imprisoned without due process because they're not citizens?

So if I let you know beforehand then you wouldn't bring your firearm. Understandable. Now what if I post a sign saying "You're not allowed to talk about the war on iraq in my home". Is that not the same as posting a sign saying "no guns"?

It's been posted numerous times that certain subjects are off limits. It prevents me from making threads I want to make too because I want to discuss gay marriage and abortion and intelligent design and other things that are simply too charged for this board and I completely understand why Rich and the staff don't want it up. Thus I don't make those threads (anymore :o).

The right of free speech does not equate to being able to say whatever you want. You have the right to voice an opinion without repercussion for such opinion on public property but on private property that repercussion is being told to leave.

Same goes for here. Yeah, technically you could post something you know is not supposed to be posted but you could be silenced or removed from the forum entirely. Thus you do not have the ability to say whatever you want without repercussion and thus you do not have the right to free speech here or in someone's living room.

But those are just my two strips of latinum. :o

I'm sorry, but you're quite wrong.

The First Amendment protects a citizen from government censorship. Period.

It does not protect your rights to speak at all under someone else's roof. If a business wishes to start a "No Talking" Policy, there's nothing in the Constitution to stop it; your choice is to vote with your feet.

The same holds true at TFL. You have no "rights" to use our bandwidth.

Also I do have the right to free speech in your living room (private property) it just does not give me the right to stay there once I have run my mouth to the point that the owner of the living room wants me gone.
Wrong again. There is no "right" to speak in another's living room. It's not a legal issue whatsoever. It's an issue of polite society. If I invite you in and you choose to be uncivil, that is not your "right"; all you "exercise" at that point is an abuse of my hospitality.

Oh, by the way. Off topic. Closed.
