Biggest Buckshot!

If you like buckshot, then you're gonna love the Tri-Ball II from Dixie Slugs. This is the biggest most penetrating buckshot load ever stuffed in a three inch 12 bore hull.

A few days ago I had the chance to run some of the 3 ball (.60 caliber hard cast, 315 grain) loads through my 870 Express with a 26" barrel. Using a Briley extended 00Buck Full choke tube with a.694 exit diameter, three consecutive shots at a measured 40 yards put all 9 of the .60 caliber balls into a 6.5 inch pattern! Better yet the pattern centered just 2 inches above the point of hold using just the bead and vent rib for sights!

This load ought to slap down any buck or hog running in the thick stuff. For the LE types this should be the best roadblock load you could use in your 12bore. This has got to be the biggest most penetrating buckshot load ever stuffed in a three inch 12 bore hull.

I do, and I will. Thanks for the info. :)

Wish it was soft lead, though, not hardcast. It would be devastating for a neck shot on a deer if it was soft. Hardcast may punch right through - not what you want.

On the other hand, I agree it would make a great LEO roadblock load, for penetration through winshields.

Interesting! As for the Tri-Ball II having pure lead balls/buckshot......most buckshot shooters I know what hard, or copper plated, buckshot for penetration. There's no present buckshot, soft or hard, that will put as large a hole or penetrate as deep as our Tri-Ball II load.......plus the soft buckshot would deform in the barrel and patterns would be too large.
This last season there was hundreds of deer and hogs killed with Tri-Ball II. There was 24 months of actual field tests done before we put it on the market.
The load has performed excellent on large boar hogs!

Those look pretty good. I wish my Dept. had those slugs and tri-ball approved to carry. I have a friend that hog hunts about 5 nights out of the week with his dogs and a slug gun. I'll pass this along to him.

We have various officers carrying a box or two in their back pockets. We have some pictures of penetration tests with the Original Dixie Terminator and heavy truck doors (with window rolled down)......complete penetation at 50 yards. Also in pure lead blocks 5"x5"x1"......total penetration at 25 yards.
The reason for the great penetration is the alloy and heat treatment vs factory soft swaged lead slugs.
We have law officer friends who are not pleased putting their life on the line carrying the "cheapest bid ammo".
