Big Time Question...need Help!!!!

ACCUTEK-0 CONSUMER-1 :D

This is gonna be alittle long..but will try and keep it minimal. :D

I research all of my gun purchases fairly deeply and if I am convinced the gun is gonna be good...I will buy it. I did this
with a certain mini 9mm "belly gun" Reasonably priced and
very limited but acceptablle reputation. Lifetime warranty also.
:barf:
I buy the gun. Found it on the net, had my dad=ffl get the
gun for me and bought it from him. Excited, as always when
going to the candy store, I pick up the gun...play with it and
get to know it. I take it to a range and it wont feed...every
mag wont feed, regardless of ammo. Plus its got a 50 lb trigger
pull, the gun is DAO but comeon...... I call the manufacturer, explain the situation and they say send us the gun...we will take care of it. The night I am boxing the gun up to send it off, the takedown lever, which is permanently attached...becomes no longer attached. GREAT! I send in my gun, call and check on
the status..the 2 week turn around time is really 4-5 weeks.
Finally they send my gun back, I am very happy. They fixed the
takedown lever, lightened the trigger pull, fixed the feeding prob and thru in some finger extensions for the mags...COOL! :D
The same day I got it back, from being FIXED by the oem, I take it to the range. STILL WONT FEED! I try different ammo and grip
...everything I can think of. After about 50 rounds that I actually
got to feed and fire, the slide locks back...and is stuck! This gun
has no slide lock of any kind! I look and the new factory installed takedown lever is now gone!
I get home and field strip the little POS and the takedown lever has broken into pieces. The pieces got between the frame and slide and proceeded to beat the SH*T out of my gun, from when it
actually felt like shooting...VERY NICE!
I again call the OEM and they say to send it in. I do so they say the gun is pretty much ruined..and I must have gotten a "lemon"!
NO SH*T! Thanks for that enlightened comment.

Now for the FUN part. The OEM says, "we dont have any guns in stock and only make them every couple of months. You can wait for a replacement or you can wait for a new improved version of the gun that will be ready in about a month and 1/2"! I AM LIVID!
I really dont want another gun from you guys, I tell him...nothing personal, but the gun that was repaired by you and your company...didnt make it one friggin day and now it toast!" :barf:

He says, I understand your point I will see if we can refund your money! He calls me back and says send me your reciept..I will
see what I can do. I call my dealer/dad and he emails me a copy
of my reciept. Its the original he creates and prints with a gun
purchase. I email the co. with the reciept attached. Will this do?
Is my question, if not I will send the original. Let me know.
The amount paid was 195 + taxes, and 25 $ for shipping to get the gun repaired. I know its an inexpensive gun.....

He emails me back and the letter says. Since you are not the original owner of the gun we will give you 175$ for your trouble.
Not the original owner? What the h*ll?
OK...I am bouncing off of the walls by now. I call and the guy is busy, so I ask the secretary about the letter and its contents.
She says, "Your invoice you sent was just written on a computer
and isnt authentic...its not like any I have seen and I have seen hundreds of them...Gun Dealers dont do that!"....hmmm, ok!
I ask her exactly what is it supposed to look like? It has a date, serial #, price paid and his FFL#? Now for the fun part......it gets better. She says " and their is a question of how the damage was done to the gun! It looks like it wasnt done from shooting the gun!" I tell her ...NO is wasnt from shooting, it was from pcs of metal beating the hell out of the slide and frame, while shooting the POS!"
She says they need the "original" invoice...OK, fine. Please have
the guy call me back....
I didnt get it...until I hung up with her. They think I pummelled this gun on purpose? To what gain? To get another one of their PIECES OF SH*T? Oh ya...sounds reasonable to me!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

This last phone call was friday...I will call them on monday and
see what resolution can be come up with......

My question is what the H*LL can I do? Any advice? PLEASE!

And I didnt put the name of the gun...as I expect many great
comments about my lack of initial judgement regarding this buy!
I may post the Manufacturer and phone # is I think it will help!
:barf::mad::confused:
Thanks and shoot well

Ok, I will do it...but dont wanna!

Here goes...please, no flames. I have learned my lesson and
how fortunate for me, I still am not done with this.

Accu-tek BL9 made by Excel Industries of Chino, CA
Phone # is 909-627-2404

Tony, production manager was very helpful in the beginning. BUT, that changed. Kathy, secretary?, is the invoice expert.

Shoot well

I have no intention to flame you for buying a gun within your budget. However, the less money you spend, the simplier the mechanism must be if you expect it to function. In other words. you may find a new revolver that functions for less than $200.00 but you aren't going to find an semi-automatic pistol that will do so. I suppose it is possible but not likely. I would like you be very frustrated by thsi time and would never consider using that weapon for any purpose ever again. A gun that will not function is the most damgerous piece of equipment you can own. Get rid of it even if you have to throw it away.

Take whatever money they are willing to refund to you. Save until you can spend the funds necessary to get a firearm from a reputable company. As in most things, you get what you pay for. Quality is expensive. Consider a used firearm form a quality manufacturer. Very few quality guns are "worn out". Their appearance degrades with use or owners get bored and want something different so they trade them in for something that looks better and is new. There are many used gun bargains out there.

If you can actually get $175.00 back, you have had an inexpensive lesson. :(

I do understand the price/quality issue, but sometimes you really find a great deal. I did get my cz 83 for roughly the same price...and its a better gun than most.
My experience with guns is fairly long and broad, in general.
I just took a chance and oh my god, did it ever backfire.

The basis of my question isnt really about the gun. We all now have all of the information on these guns we will ever need.

Its about any recourse I may have with the company. Has anything like this happened to you and what was the final resolution?

Shoot well

You must love frustration and conflict:confused: Take the $20.00 loss and get on with your life. Don't continue arguing and fussing with the company over the price of two boxes of shells. Move on!:)

I'll never, ever understand why someone will spend $200 0n a total POS like an Accu-tek when they could have had pure quality for $130.

Eric - you've had some bad luck. Take the $175 if you still can, and get a MAKAROV.

Mike H

Tis indeed sad. Suggest you take what you can get back from them. Apply what you can afford toward a quality used gun.

Try to stay calm when talkin to them. Hard to do but you stand a better chance of gettin more back.

Good luck. Sam

The only bright spot is that the lessons we learn the hard way are the lessons that tend to stick with us throughout life!

I need another question answered PLEASE?
Regarding the same scenario.....If this gun broke its "take-down" lever into pieces, it was no longer there. Did firing this gun pose a threat to me or the others around me? I know it is the only thing preventing gun from coming apart. It is the lever you drop down and only then, can you field strip the gun. After thinking
about this aspect of my guns malfunction..I am no longer sad but
more mad......

Shoot well and thanks for ANY replies.....Eric Larsen

I would think that if parts were breaking, that would qualify as a failure in production. If it were produced improperly, then its general use...even if used as intended...would be a risky venture ;)

Denfoote,

Be nice to Taurus...My PT 940 was the sweetest gun I have ever owned...but it wasnt plastic. I would own another Taurus in
a second...rev or steel auto..anyway

The Accu-Tek should have been returned to then the final time..with a note that says..." I have a sent the gun back with a little vas.........

Sorry, I couldnt resist....

We will see what happens today. I will let you all know....

Shoot well

Eric,

Good thing you told us what it is. I was beginning to think you'd bought yourself a Lorcin or a Heritage.

Confidentially, my impression of you has been---somewhat---restored ;) :D

How many times have we all heard it? you get what you pay for (usually). Some exceptions certainly could be foreign makes like the makarov, FEG, etc. (just got bulgarian Mak, wow, for $150 it goes bang every time and is prety accurate at 30 ft too). But for personal defense, I wouldn't skimp, and would test it thoroughly first before betting your life on it.

I'm gonna throw my .02 in behind the Makarov too.

I just ordered one (should be here in a few days ... I can't wait :) ).

I'll have to post a range report when I get a chance.
