Big R Ammo

I was in our new Big R today. Big R is a ranching supply, but reminds me of a mans Walmart store. Kind of a cross between Home Depot and Walmart, only better ;) I went back to their sporting goods section and the had a humdinger of a sporting goods dept. I thought I might be in Sportsmans Warehouse. Guns galore and the ammunition! They had everything and although it was a bit higher than normal, it wasn't at gouge level. Saturday is there grand opening and I will be there.:D

We have a few Big R's in my area. One just sells ammo and the other, little farther away, has a very nice sporting goods department. Guns are priced competitively and they usually have some pretty cool stuff. Ammo is cheaper than anywhere but WallyWorld around here locally. Love the place.

There aren't any Big R's here, but they're a great place to get various things. We usually stop in at the one in Pueblo when we're up that way, and once in a while the one in Trinidad and Falcon. They've kept me in boots, blue jeans, and shirts for the last 5 years or so, not to mention a bit of ammo here and there.

My wife worked for them for about 9 years, and still knows a lot of the long-time managers. In fact, she helped open a few of the stores, including the ones in Trinidad.

The one in Pueblo is the one I was talking about with the better sporting goods department. Not a bad place at all.

Here in Bug Tussle, our Big R store has always had the best over-all guns/sporting goods department in town; and pretty much every thing else too.

I always thought that Big R was great for folks who actually raise cattle, but don't like bumping into them in the aisles at WalMart.;) Also when at Big R, the guy in the chainsaw department knows more about chainsaws than about Big Macs.

One down side I've heard, at least at our store is that employees aren't allowed CCW. jd

If you see a manager named Connie, tell her that Daryl and Janelle said hi from Arizona. She's usually working behind the service desk that's straight ahead of you when you walk in the front door.

We'll be up that way this summer; hopefully we'll have time to stop in for a visit. They're good folks.

Here in MT our local Big R store is awesome!

Alot of decently priced ammo, decent rifle prices (not THE cheapest but a big selection) and the counter guys are acutally gun people :D

we have a 'big r', here in dumas, texas [please spare me the dumb @$$ jokes]. fair to decent selection of firearms, but they are bit spendy. good selection of ammo but they have not had handgun primers since way back last year. the sporting goods manager is a good guy, very knowledgable. and....he will not try to feed you a line of BS.

big downside is they still run a background check even though i have a CCW. having a CCW exempts you from having a background check through NICS. i fussed a bit and they call it a belt and suspenders situation, just in case. kinda rubs me the wrong way, but they are the only game in town for buying firearms off the shelf.
