I got in late last night from the local high school football game so I was a bit tired this morning. But when the alarmed sounded off at 4:30am I got up anyway!
I got up made some coffee and ate a quick breakfast.
As I started to get dressed I checked the weather outside to see how many layers I needed and discovered it was raining!
Bummer!
But I goofed around watching the radar and some hunting show for a bit. Then finally the radar showed that the rain was about to stop.
I figured it was going to be overcast day which may have the critters moving so I decided to go give it a shot!
I got all my gear loaded & made the drive to the hunting spot I had picked out. I get to the property at about 7:30 a.m. and during the whole drive the weather looked great. It was dark and calm which is always been a great combination for predators.
The drive from the gate to where I hide my truck is about a half mile through rough wet cow pasture. As I make the drive it starts to rain again. I sit in the truck and wait for the rain to stop.
At about 9:20 am, over an hour on the truck, it holds off enough to make a run at it!
1st stand had no takers!
On the 2nd stand I set up at the back of the property in some taller grass.
This 37lbs 6oz male came in to the Reese Double Snag distress diaphragm!
He ate a round of 3" #4 buck at 20 yards!
