Big Mak attack again!

I have to stay away from that gun store. A brand new IMEZ 9x18 Russian makarov with Baikal grips and adjustable sights was sitting there, and I couldn't resist. Paid $149 for it and, as expected, not a single problem shooting 100 rounds at the range. The gun loves that cheap green box Soviet era ammo, sparks and all. I was able to make head shots pretty consistently at 15 yards. I have the EG and Bulgarian milsurp, so I just need to find a Norinco Mak to complete my collection. Everyone should own at least a few Maks.

Hello. I recently purchased a NIB Bulgarian Makarov. For the money, it appears to be a pretty good pistol. The DA trigger-pull, while heavy, is smooth and the SA pull is usable as is. While the gun is a bit large for caliber in my opinion, it's a hoot to shoot and one could do alot worse for an inexpensive arm. Best.

StephenT,

Where in the world did you find a bargain like that? I bought my little IJ70 almost two years ago, and it was $170 then, without a holster!

Everyone that shoots Mak loves it! Bet I've sold more of them, than the clerks in the gun store. :)

Yeah, in what store did you buy that little gem? I don't remember seeing any Makarovs for sale (except for overpriced used ones) in this area at any gun shop. I guess the Maks are too much competition for their other, higher-profit-margin guns.

I believe that every gun enthusiast should own at least one Makarov. They're great little guns--not real refined, but immanently lovable.

I bought it at Discount Guns Warehouse on Veterans Memorial Drive yesterday. There was also a Bulgarian mak selling for $10 more. The Russian maks seems to usually go for $200, the EGs somewhat more, so I jumped at this one. This store sometimes has good deals on used firearms as well. I was just browsing and not planning to buy any gun, but I should have known better. Anyone know where I might find a Norinco mak for my collection? Actually, it wouldn't be complete without a Simpson-Suhl and Russian military mak (with fixed sights) as well. Thanks.
