In regards to "My wife was attacked in her own home! - 45ACP to the Rescue!" and Part 2:

Folks, I talked to Chris tonight. She had a couple nightmares last night, but is in good spirits today (I talked to her, too.) Turns out that she has shot that 1911 many times at the range with Chris. Problem is, that 1911 is the only gun in the house, and that wont cut it these days, especially if Chris has it with him, and she's home without it.

Bulldog and I have decided to show our support and concern for this hero in a big way. We've got dibs on a 1911 that we want to purchase and present to her, with our compliments, our love, and our concern for her continued safety. Anybody out there that would like to help us purchase the 1911, we would greatly appreciate the help. (Security people aren't paid well!)

If you'd like to contribute $5 or $10, you can E-Mail me ( dongha_75115@yahoo.com ) or Bulldog ( bulldawger@hotmail.com ), and we'll send you an address.

By the way, what we had here was an armed citizen protecting herself against an intruder with rape on his mind. Funny thing, there was no newspaper coverage at all!

Any funds received in excess of the cost of the 1911 (and a box of Hydra-Shoks) will be donated to the Texas Crime Victims Assistance Program.

Thanks for all the e-mail responses so far!

The 1911 in question will most likely be a blued Colt Series 80 MKIV Gubment Model, so as to match the one they already have. This particular model has already proved itself in a possible life-or-death situation, so we're not going to worry about any super tricked-out 1911s.

I'll be going to the Mesquite Gun Show first thing Saturday morning, and hopefully, I'll be able to track one down - I know they're still out there, and I still see them NIB on occasion.

I think that this will be a wonderful tribute to all the women out there that refuse to be a victim.

Gwinny:

The 1911 seemed to serve her well in her situation. I don't see any reason to force her to start from scratch with another gun, especially since she's had plenty of experience with the 1911 and obviously knows how to use it.

OK. Just thought she might prefer something else. My fiance is better with my pistol than I am but she doesn't like it much.

A big thanks to all of you for the response so far. The lady remains "in the dark" about her impending present, and hubby's keeping her away from TFL a few days, til we get everything done. God bless all of you, and may the stormtroopers never knock on your door!

What she did doesn't make her a hero in my book, but it certainly was of heroic quality. Silly semantics set aside, count me in. Glad to help a brave lady out.
