Bianchi X15 need a belt tie down?!

Hi there:

I recently purchased a Bianchi X15 vertical rig for my 1911. I ordered it online-- and I suppose I should've investigated into it more-- but the belt loop which is shown in the pictures to attach to the belt for support is way too high up on my torso. The loop is right below the gun! I have adjusted the straps to be as long as possible and the loop is still about five inches above my belt line!! I'm not that tall either-- only 6'0. I don't know whats going on here- but wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows of a tie-down that I can use to extend its reach and tie down on my belt. I looked around and nothing is made specifically for this model to extend the tie down-- Can anyone help out?

Thanks alot.

I don't know what the holster in question looks like, but at least for the time being, why couldn't you take a piece of the heavy elastic material available in sewing shops and make a simple loop of exactly the right length and tension to suit your needs. This would give you the use of the holster and time to find something more "stylish" if you desire. Like an old supervisor of mine once said "around here you gotta emphasize!", (improvise).

You can easily make a good grade of extender.

A local shoe or saddle shop, OR a Tandy Leather store or online store will sell plain leather strips made for building belts.

Buy a belt strip, a nickel-plated ring, a snap kit with "Dot" type snaps and setting tool, and a small packet of rivets.

Wrap one end of the strip around the nickel ring and rivet it in place.

Cut the strip to the right length to allow the other end to wrap around your belt, and mount a set of snaps on the other end, so you can snap it around the belt.

Slip the holster's tie-down strap through the ring and re-snap it.
Loop the other end under your belt and snap that end.

You could also get most any shoe or saddle shop or a leather hobbyist to make one fairly cheap.

That model is made to carry the weapon with the muzzle at belt leval.

I am 6'2", and looking at mine, the straps are in tge top two slots on the holster.

If you are uncomfortable with the straps not being through all of the slots, I would suggest going to a shoe repair shop, saddle maker, etc., and having some extra leather added to the straps to legnthen them.

I think this would be much easier than messing with the belt tie down, which on this model is integraly sewn to the intreior of the holster.

Good luck!
