BHP in .40S&W recoil spring duty cycle

Fellow Members;
Can anyone give me a good idea on how many rounds I might expect to get out of a stock recoil spring. I generally shoot a semi-robust round built around a Win. 180gr. JHP using WST @ 4.5gr and sparked by WSP primers. (Winchester recommends min. 4.0, max. 5.0gr.) This load cycles the action well, knocks over poppers and steel plates and will punch holes clear through IPSC cardboard targets! :) Once a month I cycle through a 20 round box of my self-defense round which are Speer Gold-Dots.
For a little quicker reacquisition of targets I am considering a recoil damper such as the Springco guide-rod type.
Any suggestions on either or both topics would be appreciated.
Thanks,
SeaHaze

I put a Sprinco reducer in my .40 Practical and love it. It allows you to run a lighter recoil spring, included, and softens up the recoil. Running the lighter spring will reduce wear and tear. Neat thing about the Sprinco is that you can try it for 30 days and if you don't like it they will give you your money back. It is a no lose situation. We tried them in a number of pistols at EOSM and only the Beretta 9mm did not seem to benefit. Worth a try since it doesn't cost you anything.
