BFR 30-30

I am a big fan of 30-30 in lever guns. Accurate, sufficient power and low recoil. I would imagine that its a handful in a revolver. I am curious is anyone has one or has shot one and what they thought about it.

Our local Gander Mountain store in Gadsden, AL, has had a .30-30 BFR for sale since they opened a couple years ago. While I haven't shot a BFR, I used to have a TC Contender in .30-30 and it was a breeze to shoot... more like a gentle .44 Mag. It's nothing to be afraid of.

Most of that rifle powder is going to go straight out the muzzle.

I don't know the ballistics, but I know they might be half as good as from a proper shootist's rifle.

My thought is about what model12 had to say. Maybe working up some different powder loads would be better for the short barrel. IMO you then lose the advantage of having a lever gun and a handgun in the same cartridge. Still, I would like to try one out.

Big muzzle blast with factory loads. It would be interesting with faster powder and the new 123SST........maybe cracking 2000fps in 15"?
