This is my Rossi 92 .357 Rifle. The hammer has A casting flaw on the full cock notch. 3/4 of it is missing. This is A safety issue. Rossi will not stand behind it. It is not broken ,it was never there. Rossi will not sell replacement parts for their rifles. I would buy one if they would sell it, but I am not paying shipping then bench fee $35. For them to look at it. Then pay for parts and labor. They will not warranty it because it was not noticed in A year.
BEWARE ROSSI RIFLES!

There is A similar problem with the loading gate But that is not A safety issue. but should not have left the factory either.

Have you posted pictures before? I use a free photo service, photobucket, and up load my pictures to the site. Then I copy and paste the IMG link into a thread. Seems to work for me.

Doesn't seem like Rossi would have a reason not to sell the parts if they're available. Is there someone they will sell the parts too?

I called them about some rifle sights and they gave me a price and everything but maybe that's because they aren't part of the inner workings.

Beyond that can you have someone tig the hammer and file it flush?

Excerpt from an article I just posted:

The .357 Magnum Carbine, Perfected

"Primarily, this article concerns the Rossi R92 and a few comments are in order. I absolutely do NOT recommend that you buy one. These Taurus-Rossi 357′s are generating a lot of feeding complaints, usually because the cartridge starts into the chamber and get stuck. Mine required chamber polishing, a total re-work of the sights, cartridge lifter and guides before it was shootable and remotely reliable. The trigger started at 7 pounds and now breaks at three. The magazine follower is plastic and must be replaced. The wood needs refinishing, right out of the box. Sight dovetail dimensions are all over the place. So are sharp edges, which require rounding off and rebluing. They are a PITA to work on, everything inside them is cast/MIM and Rossi will NOT sell you internal parts. So if you’re serious about investing in a 357 carbine- do yourself a favor and just get a Marlin 1894C."

The problem with this rifle was you could not get cartridges into the magazine. Some would slip right in, others would not go. Took it apart found the loading gate is pinned and staked to A small block held by A screw. The pin was not holding on one side and loose on the other. Then I saw the hammer. I was deburring and polishing A few areas but just stopped and put it back together.
It feeds .38 swc and RN. .357 125HP and 158 JFP fine. Shoots good.
Bought it right. I would be ok with it if I could get parts reasonable.
But now Rossi has me P.O.ed

Loading gate problem notwithstanding, I'd just TIG weld the safety notch and re-grind it back in. "Shouldn't be an issue" at that point.

SO FAR... (knock, knock), my 16" 44Mag Puma carbine has performed fawlessly.

Problem is that it's the FULL COCK notch, NOT the safety notch that has the casting flaw.

People not knowing such an obvious difference is probably why Rossi isn't too anxious to sell internal parts.

My Rossi .357 was kind of notchy from the factory. The "Steve Gunz" tune-up video was the best $35 I ever spent, the Rossi is unbelievably slick now.

Facebook is on the Taurus site was exactly how I got a hold of them and they contacted me back the following day I think. And they were very helpful and wanted to solve my problems.

Thanks for the Face Book info. Calling Rossi 3 times did no good. 3 Reps I talked to gave the same line and would not connect me to superiors. The operator is non existant.
Reps are like robots all giving the exact same lines. But no answers I wanted to hear.
I know it is out of warranty. But the hammer is A safety issue that would not be found by many owners that do not take their guns apart.
Am I expecting to much for them to make this right?

Many companies, including Remington, refuse to sell most parts to anyone except a licensed gunsmith. It is a liability issue. That includes parts that are often available from aftermarket sources.

It does not help your immediate problem but a search of this forum should give sufficient Rossi horror stories to dissuade a potential purchaser. The only good thing about a Rossi is they are making Steve's Guns wealthy.

That's a beautiful rifle there, Mike. I have a .22LR Repeating Carbine that I've always had a soft spot for. How's the recoil on that rifle? I've always wanted to get another repeater (not one with safety issues though, no offense). Sorry for the off topic question, by the way. :P

Rossi firearms are imported by Taurus USA. In general, Taurus does not sell parts, instead relying on owners shipping their firearm to them for repair under their lifetime warranty. Go to the TaurusUSA.com website and fill out a service request form, or call their customer service people. I have had pretty good luck with them servicing their firearms in a timely manner.

Finaly got through to someone above the phone reps. Facebook Private message. They agreed that it was A mfg. Problem and will fix it. We will see.
High hopes here.
Scorch...... Rossi rifles only have A one year warranty unlike their handguns.

Mosin ...... The rifle has nearly no recoil with .38s and very little with .357s.

Nice little rifles when they work.
