Beware Perfecta Brass

Mosin-Marauder

I bought 100 rounds of Perfecta ammo and finally got done shooting all of it, I went to reload the brass, and every piece of brass I've deprimed so far managed to have an off-center flash hole. It varied in severity, some are near the edge of the primer pocket, some are fairly close to center. None appear to be centered though. I've broken 3 decspping pins so far, and I'm really just considering tossing the brass. I probably will. I would email Tula/Perfecta but I doubt there's much they could do.

Tried uploading pictures but my Photo bucket is flipping out.

Thanks for reading.

It's just the way it is. Amerc and another is the same way. Doesn't affect reloading, shoots fine. It's a little bit of a pain if the decapper scrapes on the side, but usually still decaps fine on off center flash holes.

I have loaded Perfecta brass and didn't have any problems . Decaps like normal, but thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye open for any malfunctions in the future.

I purchases 2,000 30/06 LC NM pull down cases from Pat's in Ohio. None of the flash holes were centered, while in Ohio I called a local reloader and ask him if he was interested in purchasing a few thousand. Sight unseen? The answer was no. After I got home he checked the cases out then decided he wanted a thousand. Pat made us a deal on another 2,000 cases.

All of the flash holes were off as in not centered. But when forming and sizing cases there is nothing like new unfired cases. If there was a problem with primer punch pins I would deprime the cases by hand after the first firing.

I bought a few hundred 223/556 rounds and fired fifty or so in a DPMS Cheaper-15, accuracy was acceptable, but they were slightly dirtier than most. I purposely reloaded them using a Lee collet die and have reloaded and fired about 20 around 5 times each. There have been no failures, flashholes are centered, and most surprising they are still functioning smoothly with just neck sizing. Cant do that with my others. The only issue if you want to call it that is the crimps are minimal, which means you don't have to ream or swage pockets. This is the lot Im dealing with, perhaps others are better or worse. BTW, Perfecta supposedly is produced by a division of Fiocchi, and distributed by Tula. They were selling for 6.94$ at our local Wallys , after the first batch I think you had to be at the stores at 0500.

I would email Tula/Perfecta but I doubt there's much they could do.

Do about what? Unless you buy new brass in a package to be reloaded such as Hornady or Remington, no factory ammo is 'meant' to be reloaded. We reload fired ammo because it has certain dimensions and flash hole designs, not because of any 'reloadable' designation.

Can you put a different engine in a Jeep Cherokee? Sure. But the factory never designed it to have anything more than the original.

If they have offset flash holes from the factory and it works, so be it. Do we like that as reloaders? Nope.

FWIW never even knew about Perfecta ammo until I saw some of it at Walmart yesterday (June 10, 2015). $10 for a box of 9mm 115 grain FMJ. I was thinking of buying some but 9mm is not scarce and I have enough for now so I passed on it. Then saw this thread today. Wonder why I've never seen it before?

Wonder why I've never seen it before?

Because it is relatively new to the market. It is made by Fiocchi and distributed by Tula and it appears to be the same stuff as the old Fiocchi Brass Max that is no longer available. I just bought my first boxes of it yesterday - 9mm for $10.97/box.
