Saiga 12

I have been starting to think of trying to grab a Semi Auto Saiga shotgun while they are still available. Nothing sounds more fun than a high capacity magazine 12G shotgun haha. I know there are some that are $2k and some under $1k. Im looking for on the cheaper end of the spectrum cause i can't really afford a $1500 shotgun right now. What are the best models for a guy on a budget? Im new to saiga's

I paid $450 for my Saiga-12, brand-new. Founs a place selling 5 round magazines for these at $5 a piece, they work perfect!

I use the gun for knock-down steel. Wouldn't be good for Trap, besides, most Trap fields require longer-barreled gun, probably trying to keep out the riff-raff. :D

Would probably work for Skeet though.

Is it hard to convert these back to the original configuration they left the factory in and is it expensive to do? Also, where can i buy a new one at besides gunbroker or gunsamerica? The only place i really saw that had them for sale was that AtlanticFirearms online. Anyone know of any good places to get one for a good deal?

last time i looked a shop 40-50 miles from me has 3 left at $699. other places have jacked them up to $1200. get them while u can boys...... sounds like an investment buy at 700 and under. my buddy got 3 of them for 550 almost a year ago.

They are selling the unconverted ones for around $600, well at least online they are. I have only found one or two places that actually sell them online besides auction sites which want a arm and leg for one

so how much does it cost to convert one of these and is it hard to do? Basically i just want the pistol grip for now. I know some people change the gas system and everything else, but is that really necessary? I basically want to convert it back to the way it was built in the factory.

I have converted six Saiga's, its not that bad cost depends on what you want to add. And you will want the reliablity kit installed inorder to fire cheap ammo. Here are three of them a 12, 20 and a 410. Please give me feed back about the barrel shrouds. Thanks.

i am going to get the 12 gauge and i want to first just add the pistol grip to it. I would like to be able to shoot target loads or the bulk pack shells out of it, what needs to be done to be able to shoot them? Is that when the entire gas system and bolt need to be changed?

Just get the gun and shoot it first before you add the reliability kit you may not need it. I can shoot anything threw mine and I have never touched the gas system on it. Still running the stock gas puck and gas adjuster on mine.

yeah thats what im gonna do, im gonna get it and try a bunch of different types of ammo and see how things go and then go from there on what needs done. Now i just need to find where i can get the best deal on one

I just ordered one yesterday and it was shipped today so ill have it shortly. Im going to run to Walmart to get a couple box's of shotgun shells tonight since its the only place open i can get them. Since im new to shotguns, what are a couple different types of shells i should get to test out the gun

Run 10 rounds or so of buckshot through it first. Check on the setting of the gas control knob, there are two positions, one lets more gas in than the other. After the buckshot change the knob to the other position and run birdshot through it. Both should cycle correctly.
