Best upgrades for an XD Mod.2 Tactical 5"?

I've been looking around at long slide guns for a while, and the Mod.2 Tactical keeps coming up to the top of my list. I've looked at Walther (awesome gun, awesome trigger, but pricey) and I really can't come up with any big benefits of the XDM over the XD to justify the price jump (I can find the Tactical Mod.2 for around $500 in some places, where the XDM 5.25 is usually at least $650).

I'm mainly interested in trigger mods at this point. What's the best option for the gun? I hear Springer and Powder River a lot. Will the trigger upgrade for the 4" service model also work with the 5"?

I may add night sights if I need them for any competitive stuff. I don't think I'm especially interested in adding red dots.

Any other upgrades that would make it a better shooting gun? If I could make the XD trigger feel like the Walther PPQ, I'd be a happy boy.

all XDs use the same trigger group, the PRP trigger will work fine(don't confuse XD trigger group with XD-s or XDM trigger group). add some PRP mag extensions and you should be in good shape. personally, I've always found the added value of the XDM well worth the $150, especially in the 5" models. the xdm5.25 has 3 extra rounds per mag, replaceable backstraps, adjustable rear sights and lightening cut in the slide. these may not be features that are important to some people, but all things I take into account.

now if this were a comparison of the 4" models in 45ACP that may be a different conversation as the 45 models use the same mags so no ammo capacity differences, and the mod2 has the better sights than the 4.5 inch xdm.

I suppose the cuts in the XDM long slide would be valuable--I did hold each gun in a store and found that the XDM was noticeably lighter. The Mod.2 fits my hand well as is, but adjustments are always a good thing.

Dunno whether higher capacity is needed or not.

Who makes the best trigger upgrades to the XDM 5.25?

PRP is the most often touted. I bought a PRP trigger once. it sat in a closet for 3 years until I jut gave up on the idea of finding the motivation to put it in and sold it.
