Ok so im looking to pick up a Remington 700 30-06.

Im looking to get a scope to allow me to shoot around 200-500yrds.
with some ease in the price range of $175-200 out of the box.

Please list the following:

Make/Model
Pros/Cons

And any other info you could throw in to help me out.

That's a tough price range to reach out that far. I'd look at a Weaver V10 2-10x38 should get you out to 300-400yds ok. Very good bang for the buck scopes. If you raise your budget $100 then a Weaver V16 4-16x42 would be a good choice.

I don't do a lot of shooting at those ranges but you might also look at a Mueller Tactical. I haven't used one but they have models in your price range and have a reputation as decent bang for the buck scopes.

"Good scope" and "$175-$200 out of the box" aren't necessarily synonymous. A decent variable scope is going to run around $250. You can probably get a Burris, Nikon, or Weaver for that price. I'd avoid Simmons, BSA, and Tasco, since their quality is not as good as Burris, etc.

Go to the Optic Zone. They have a good selection.

I would look at the Bushnell Scopes, they usually have more scopes than you can shake a stick at. However they can be a little pricey, but you may sacrifice spending a little more for a quality scope. Also don't forget they come with warranties

Alright thanks alot guys.

Yea i get alot of a scopes a scope.
and its mostly persinal pref.
but i know some where in there its a lil more than that.

I have a Remington 308 Tactical bolt action with a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40Seems to work well for me. I found the scope on ebay for $156 delivered! New with warranty. I'm buying another one for my Ruger 10/22. Probably overkill on the 10/22 but a 4x7x32 is $129 so why not get a much better scope for just a few more bucks? The ebay seller ships very fast!

Ok now im looking for a scope that has either good

Mil-dot

SVD Type

or

Modern Range Finding sight..

and which one would be better for shooting
around 200-500 yards.. mostly target shooting.
but could also be used for hunting ever so often.

Which sights is better for what im looking for..
and what scope magnafine power should i look at.

Also must be adjustable magnafine range.. (zoom in and out)

Within the $200-300 range.

For those that dont know what Mil-Dot/SVD/Modern Range sights mean

Also, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR :) Especially when dealing with scopes. Don't get me wrong you don't have to spend an arm and a leg though. A Super Sniper is supposed to be a great value and I personally have read great things about them all over the net and got a chance to see one on a rifle in person, but they have a stigma attached with their name and that stigma is TASCO. The brand name is Super Sniper not Tasco though. ( http://www.supersniper.com/ ) I know the name sounds corney but bear with me. They are no longer made by Tasco if they ever were (debate? I think they were..) but anyway, take a look. I was really close to buying one from SWFA ( http://www.swfa.com/c-231-swfa-ss-rifle-scopes.aspx ) but I came across a new Nightforce NXS on e-bay for a REALLY great price so I went with that. All SS are mil-dot, all are fixed power, all have a focus/paral adj. and all are rated for use with a 50BMG. The website also has review links for reviews done on the SS scopes by third party websites such as snipershide, gunblast and so on. One of the best buys for the money, maybe? But they are also $319-$419. I know a little more than you would prob. like to spend, but spending once is alot better than spending twice for the same purpose. A good piece of glass is like a good piece of A$$. If you spend a little time and money with/on it, it will always treat you good. :D Oh yea, SWFA sells the SS exclusively plus alot of other items too, or try e-bay.

Hey i was also wondering what would be a good scope
magnifacation range for 100-200 yrd shots.. but can still
be capable to see and put a few down to about 550-600 yrds.
still staying in the $200/$300 range. (w/ mildot/modern range finder)

I have been thinking a super sniper/nikon
or something like that but I dont know what model or
magnifacation capability i should be looking at for those shots.

There is a difference in weight between those two you mentioned..The 10X SS is 21 oz. . And the Nikon Monarch 2.5-10X42 is 16.6oz.

Yea weight doesnt really bother me at all..

im just really lost on the 3x-10 35mm and all that i have no
idea what it means and what a good zoom/lens size
is great for what im looking to shoot in my price range or around it.

I would ask my local store but they always favor the
highier priced one and tell me you get what you pay for
and recomend the cheap stuff and im unhappy with it
and just come back and upgrade a month or 2 later..
