Like the title says. I've been looking at picking up some ammo and it seems, for handgun semi-auto plinking, it's the way to go. Just wanted to hear a little first hand on the different companies.
Reloaded by A factory, not the one the loads originally came from. Georgia Arms is a pretty big player in that market. Black Hills does remanufactured as well as new as does Great Lakes.
Other than Freedom, I've never ordered from the others listed so I didn't vote.
Freedom makes some pretty fine ammo IMO and I continue to order from them. I also order a good amount from Georgia Arms and continue to get good results from them too.
I have shot a lot of Georgia Arms and Freedom Munitions. Both have been 100% for me.
One issue I have with Freedom Munitions is that the in house brass they use marked IMT has a inner rim which makes is sketchy for the avg person to reload.
Check out The Bullet Works for reman ammo in different power factor loadings. If you like 9mm their competition load with 147 gr bullets is a very usable light load.
How safe is it to shoot re manufactured Ammo? How reloadable is it? I imagine the brass their using may be something of a
Mixed bag, where some shells are more safe to reload than others?
I've shot a few different brands. Nothing special - just "range ammo". I never noticed any real difference except one. My Polish P-64 (9mm Makarov) doesn't lock the slide back after the last round with the remanufactured stuff like it does with normal factory ammo. That's not a deal breaker for me.
I've used www.georgia-arms.com for a very long time with complete satisfaction. I don't know if it is worth the price to pay shipping. They are only about a hour away and have tables at all local gun shows. That is where I usually buy, but I've gone straight to the factory when in the area.
I buy almost all of my handgun ammo from them. Lots of 223 as well. I handload my hunting ammo.
