Best Range in Phoenix

I'm going to meet an old college buddy in Phoenix next month. He's not into the shooting sports, but we'll probably be looking for things to do and I figured it might be nice to hit a range while I'm out there.

I won't be taking any of my own weapons (due to the hassle of flying), so I'm interested in recommendations for some good ranges where you could rent guns. By "good" I mean inexpensive, interesting, exotic or some combination of these things Just looking for recommendations from people who've been there that will carry more weight than ads in a phone book.

I haven't been to any yet, but I've heard Ben Avery was good.
I was going to check it out in 2 weeks or so.

Shooters World in central Phoenix or Caswells in Eastern (Mesa) Phoenix area. Both will be crowded at popular times but both have a decent rental pool.

I took my snubby on a trip from Phoenix to Inianapolis just to see how much of a hassle it would be and found it wasn't an issue. You do have to check in at the counter and wait in that line but that was the greatest incoionvience.

Scottsdale Gun Club has a nice selection of rentals - including full automatic weapons. Very nice facility. You can check out their on line site to see what they offer.

Caswells range fee is $15 per person. The website doesn't say if that's per hour or per day. Gun rental is $7.

Shooters World range fee is $14 per hour per person. Gun rental is $10. Targets are expensive.

SCG range and rental fees are likely much higher (It's SCOTTSDALE):

All of the above are indoor ranges and have gun rentals.

Ben Avery is an outdoor range, no rentals, but costs only $7 per day per person. Targets are as little as 10 cents or 25 cents each. Weekday mornings are not crowded. I don't know about weekends because I'm retired and don't go there on weekends.
