Best price on M&P 15-22

I hate paying too much on things. I've waited a year to buy one scouring a deal. Found a new one at the gun show today for 399.99. It is the model with the "compensator" not the smooth barrel.

Thoughts?

Thanks all.

Why not spend the $200 on the CMMG Evolution kit?

It's just a replacement BCG and magazine to convert your AR into .22lr.

Then you get to keep your same set up and work with the same trigger. :)

Some folks prefer a dedicated rifle for shooting .22LR.

When I go to the range, I'll shoot my M&P15 while a friend shoots my M&P15-22. Hard to do when all you have is a rifle and a conversion kit.

Yeah, I suppose. I've got enough AR's that we can shoot both.

I like the idea of .22 kit because you get to work with your PWS.. same trigger/sights/optics/etc while spending a fraction of the price on ammo that you normally would.

I dont even like shootin .22lr nor .223... since I got my DPMS LR-308...

I wonder if you can get a .22lr kit for that??!!>..:p

I don't own anything in an AR platform unfortunately, so the conversion is out. I'll mull some things over here and hope to head back out to snag one.

Oh, you have not bought it yet. Hope it's still available. If not, a couple hundred dollars more and you are in AR15 territory.

That's my issue. I'll pass again on the 22lr. I think January I'll pick up one in 5.56 and start reading up now. Maybe just the M&P 15.....

@quarterhorse - if you decide to go M&P 15 then I suggest the Sport. Bought mine for $599. Also the OR can be had for $799 or less. I don't know if S&W still has the $100 off deal.

The promotion is for $100 for M&P Rifles excluding the Sport and 15-22.

This offer is available to ALL active duty U.S. Military, Retired Military with retired Military Status, active National Guard Reservists and Disabled Veterans of all U.S. Military branches including U.S. Coast Guard.

It's only good until 31 December.

Check their website for details.

I don't qualify for the 100 off, so that's moot.

For a beginner AR guy the sport seems to be the way to go. May sell my Mini 14, then again, I hate selling guns....

I bought a SW 15-22 last year. I bet I've run 5,000 rounds through it.

I recently purchased Thunderbolt 22LR from Natchez for $1.69/box. At $.03/round, why not shoot the hell out of it.

Kickin' Brass .... :D

.....or buy both eventually :)

It seems the price is pretty much hovering, no big deal there. However I have an upcoming pig hunt. The thought of bringing my bolt gun was the plan with a new SA revolver on my hip. The thought of saving a touch more and getting something I can use on that hunt and have another place keeper in the safe doesn't bother me too much either.

I go back and forth for sure.
