Best price on .40 ammo

I need to stock up on .40 to protect my family from the hordes of zombies that will be unleashed someday. I've found Blazer 9mm and winchester 100 value packs at Walmart to be a great deal (better then any internet site). Is the WWB .40 at Walmart still the best deal going? or is there better on an internet site? Also what is a 100 pack running these days?

If you are just looking for the least expensive practice round, the best deal I've found is Walmart, Remington UMC 250 round Mega Pack (180 gr. FMJ) at, approx, $65.

If you are looking for a defensive round... altogether different story. Best price depends on the specific manufacturer and round you are looking for. Try ammoman.com or ammunitiontogo.com for a starting place.

The answer is.....it depends:)

My local wally mart has the WWB packs for ~$32/100 including tax. I send my empty cases to www.mastercast.net for reloading with 180gr cast FP's for ~$16/100 including shipping. For me, mastercast is the way to go. I use their cast FP's in both my CZ40B and my sub2k rifle. It is VERY accurate, w/ little leading even after 200-300 round range sessions.

If you dont have any old cases to exchange these guys have the best price around $180/1000 for cast FP's. http://www.precisioncartridge.com/R...on-Commercial-Wholesale-Price-List-Page-1.pdf

For carry ammo I'm kinda partial to fiocchi's 165gr JHP, loaded hot, fairly inexpensive and very accurate in my guns. www.ammunitiontogo.com has the best price in town for it @$16.95/50.

Wally world .40 cal ammo

I am buying WWB at Wally world for $28.50/100 box also a good deal is the 100 box of Rem. UMC JHP for $31.50 at WW.
I cannot find it this cheap anywhere the Gander Mt. in town is way more expensive. I am in N.C.

The Remington UMC mega pack at WalMart is as good a price as I can find around here - $68 or so for 250 rds. Keep checking the sites like Wideners and Natchez for their latest prices and then factor in shipping costs to see if you can do better than WalMart. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't.

$100 for 1000...wow that's a great deal. It looks like the cheapest .40 case is now $180 which is still a great deal. What is cast FP? what's the difference from fmj? It also looks like they have great prices on .380 also. Especially the rnj...what does that stand for and is it worth it to spend a little more for the fmj?

Lastly, what's the quality like from precision? I have a S&W Sigma for the .40 and a Kel Tec P3AT for the .380. I'm more concerned about the Kel Tec as I know it can be picky.

Cast FP are similar in profile to conical shaped FMJ ammo...but just no jacket...jst a plain old lump of lead. I use cast lead bullets for the range...nice and cheap. They load fine in all my pistols and are very easy on the rifeling! Before I spent $180 on 1000 rounds I might buy 50 or 100 rounds of .380RNL and .40FP ammo from mastercast to see if your guns even like the stuff.

I actually compared WW with Bass Pro a few months ago. They were exactly the same for 9mm. With .45 WW was actually 5cents per round cheaper. Blazer was the cheapest in all calibers. I guess i'll have to make a Wally World run one of these days.........

Probably CCI Blazer aluminum cased is cheapest while I have had very good results from Magtech ammo as being accurate. WWB or UMC is also a good deal.

I picked up 727 FP's & 11 JHP's from my Bro in Law for $9. He originally wanted $20, but I only had $9 in my pocket so that's what he got :)
Was also given 300 Black Talons for free by a friend who just retired from his LEO job (along with a bunch of Federal Hydra Shoks)

I usually pick up the Winchester JHP or FMJ 100 boxes at WallyWorld, Haven't tried the 250 count Remingtons because the only 3 people who seemed to know what they were talking about said the stuff is dirty.... I'm thinking I need to find out for myself next time I spend a day at the local range.

I don't like the remington as in 9mm it flashes quite a bit more then WWB and seems a little dirtier. I'm interested in Magtech. i just got some Magtech for my .380. Who's got the Magtech .40 for the best price. Those folks in Minnesnowta make good ammo.

My Wal-Mart has started carrying the Blazer Brass in .40 cal. Picked some up for 12.97 per box of 50 last week. I've had real good luck with the Blazer Brass in 9mm and .45acp.
