Online or in the store. Which ones? I don't want to get dubious ones. Thanks
I happen to like 60s through early 80s era S&W revolvers which means I am usually buying used. I don't have time to drive around to a lot of gun stores looking to see what they might happen to have in stock, and they usually overprice them anyway.

Judging by the experiences I've had I would say you can usually find better deals for used guns in shops and new guns online. This of course could be different in different parts of the country.
"To each his own, but that is one of my favorite pastimes is visiting the shops and pawn shops. Some need a pot-bellied stove and sand box for tobacco juice! And, found some bargains there. Bought a Model 29 for $225 from a guy going into one of these strores."
Same here, most of my revolvers came from a pawn shop. Just do the March checklist and be prepared to negotiate and you can get some sweet deals at a pawn shop. You can get skinned as well, it's entirely up to you. Do your homework.
Got a nice Model 19-4 last January in good to very good condition for $325 OTD.
It seems to me that the added cost of FFL transfer and shipping charges would negate any price advantage.
Just for information, I live in Memphis, Tennessee. My two favorite stores are Guns And Ammo, and right across the street is Accent Pawn shop. Guns And Ammo probably sells more guns than all of the other gun shops in Shelby County combined, and always has an interesting inventory of used guns as well.
The pawn shop across the street has split into two different buildings, one for guns, the other for other pawn shop business. Seen recently was a Colt M1902 .38 ACP, and a nickel plated S&W M1917, among others.
They also carry street pistols as well.
