Hi,

I want to start reloading for my M1 Garand and looking for less expensive FMJ bullets. I'm seeing prices as low as .23/round with a cannelure. Can anyone recommend any sites that have lower prices?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

Not sure of price comparison, I use the Sierra 168 gr Matchking at $40 per 100 from LGS. Note that 150 gr Garand Federal ammunition is available.

Look at MidSouth. They sell 500 of the Hornady 150 grain FMJ's for $0.178 each. That seems to be their best price currently. Their bulk box of 2100 used to be even more economical, but the current price makes for $0.185 each.

I'll caution that I've yet to run into a 147 grain NATO ball FMJ that shot anything like as well as the Hornady 150. Some, like the Winchesters, were just poorly made. But some have more boattail than the Hornady, and I suspect that allows too much in-bore tipping.

"...yet to run into..." Yep. A 147 grain NATO ball FMJ is a .308/7.62NATO bullet that isn't made for nor ever was intended to be for accuracy. Mostly made for MG's, now. The Hornady 150 was designed to be a cf plinking bullet.
In any case, it's best to buy components locally vs on-line. Shipping costs and sometimes Hazmat fees will negate any cost savings found on-line.
"...with a cannelure..." Forget the cannelure.
Midway is showing Hornady 150's 'on sale' at $18.99 per 100 or $94.49 per 500(currently on Back Order OK).

I have had great experiences with Monmouth Reloading. I even coaxed them into selling 45 ACP brass by small and large primer. Starting out, they only sold mixed.
