SWSURGEON
i took a round of that apart, to see what made it tick.
It had a FMJ bullet, boat tail, and a ROLL GROOVE cannelure.....
The powder was extruded, and looked very similar to 4895, but smaller in length.
I presume the cannelured B T bullet, and the extruded powder were the key.
But for ammo that was mfg'd in 83/84, and had undoubtedly seen numerous temperature swings,,,,,,it was simply astounding.
Mil spec, mil issued ball.....that shot UNDER 1/4 moa @ 100 yards........never ever seen anything like that stuff.
Like you, I would dearly love to find more.......
As you said, if you want ammo to just EQUAL it, you have to pay $13.00-17.00 per box..............
While on this subject, I had a similar experience with the Chinese .308 ball..........NOT the commercial boxed variety.....but the kind in a spam can.
Out of a Polytech M1A (tm), clone, it would put 3 rounds inside of a dime at 100 yards..............very good also, but an anomaly I'm sure on the Polytech........
Wouldn't think of shooting it in a real RIFLE..steel jacketed.
