i was at walmart an they have Rugers for like $200 an a Marlin .17 HMR for like $190 i believe. is it good now days to buy one from wally world or a gun shop?

If you scour high and low for a few weeks you might find it for sale at a $5-$10 discount over WM's everyday price. Or you can just head to WM and pick one up pretty much anytime you feel like it.

$200 seems to be the going rate any more. Seems a bit steep to me, but then again the last one I bought I think was $150 and I thought it was a little overpriced at the time. They're great guns, but it seems to me that they used to be a whole lot cheaper. Then again I guess everything used to be a whole lot cheaper. Man getting old sucks.

I was at Dick's sporting goods a while back and they had them for $130, not sure which version that was though. I didn't really look too close because I have one already.

Your local on line gun trader should have a few dozen listed at cheaper than wally world prices. Of course you might have to buy gas and travel to buy F2F. Since the price is so low already you are only talking about saving $20-30 maybe.

I just bought one for my son at a gun shop its the all weather model, paid $275.00 for it. I went in to Walley World couple days later they had the same thing for $250.00.
When I bought the gun I filled out the paper work put the rifle in the box and walked out the door. When I was at WW I asked the young man if I could look at the one they had in the glass case he didn't have the key and could not find the guy who did have it! I asked him about the rifle he knew nothing about it, not that I needed to know any thing about it as the 1st one I ever bought was $48.50 but the fact is 90% of the people in the big box stores are dumber then a fence post when it comes to guns.
I did buy a shotgun from WW once it was about an hour ordeal then I had to wait for a manager so he could walk me to the door, I guess they thought I was going to take it out of the box put it together get some shells load it and shoot the place up.
I guess I pay the extra money to keep the small shops open so when I need loading supplies etc. I have a place to go.
I even have a problem with our Bass Pro store with some of the miss leading statements I've heard their gun salespeople say.

If I am remembering correctly I saw them at Dick't just 3-4 days ago for $169? I could have a case of brain fade though?

Oh ive seen those! Those look pretty decent. If i cant get a 10/22 im going for one of those.... But first i gotta get rid of this marlin m60 im tired of, and having problems with now.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest the Bi-Mart stores have them on sale all the time. Black Friday they were $169 this week the blued/wood stock model is $179. That is where I have bought my last 2 10/22's. Great store by the way. Kind of like a very small Wal-Mart except it is employee owned and the people that work there actually seem to like being there...

Here in Georgia academy has them for like 200 without a scope. You can usually find them online at gun trader sights for 150-200 with a scope. I bought mine used for 100 with a scope. Best purchase ever. I told the wife I had to buy it cause it was made in 1982 the year I was born.
