Best night Sights for XD?

Anyone have recommendations on good alternating night sight colors? I'm on a budget but I understand that money must be spent to get quality as well. I want alternating colors as well. No matching 3 dots.

Trijicon HD
Meprolight Tru-Dot
Truglo TFX or TFO
Ameriglo

Any of the above brands are top notch.

From my experience, Meprosights are brighter than the Trijicons. I had a used set of Meprosight Tru-Dots (unknown age) which were brighter than new Trijicon HDs.

My next purchase will be Truglo TFXs for a Glock 19. I've heard good reviews about them.

The Trijicon HDs use tritium inserts with a photoluminescent paint. The paint is worthless, so just use them for the contrast difference.

The Truglo TFX or TFOs use tritium inserts and fiber optic inserts. This should provide excellent visibility during the day.

Are you going to install them yourself? I recommend you invest in a sight pusher and do some research on the XD line. They are notorious for having impossible to remove factory sights (really tight).

Well I'm curious about doing it myself. The more I read, the more it sounds like this needs to be done by a pro and I need to save the learning for later.

Edit: found a place that does it free if I buy from them.

Most guns are quite simple to push out and push in new sights.

I've heard some gunsmiths being forced to use a pneumatic tool to generate enough force to remove XD sights.

Good idea.

Might want to check out Warren Tactical. Can be purchased from Midway. I did some research and determined these were the ones for my XD 45 compact. I have them, just need to get them installed.

Trijicon is my choice #1 and Meps are my choice #2.

I think for the price Meprolight has some of the best in the business (they're the OEM Kimber and Siglite night sights).

Overall, Trijicon is probably a hair better but for an extra bit of coin.

I'm generally happy with both and both come in alternate front/back colors.

"Never heard of them" - is that French for "Thank you, I'll research that brand"?
:p

Nathan - I'm also looking for NSs for my XD, thanks for suggesting Mepros.....
