Hello: Looking for a new pheasant gun. Have plenty of 12ga. with which I am very happy with. Looking for something a little lighter when the snow flies here in souther Mn/norther Ia.....So I thought a 20. was in order.....Looking at Remington 1187 light 20, or similar????? Your opinions will be appreciated, Thanks!!!!:)

look for something w/ a synthetic stock they usually lighten it up a little bit. I've got a benelli and i love it it's a light autoloader. the m1 field it's a 12ga though. They're pricey but nice guns. Just go look around at gander mountain or your local gun shop. by the way what part of Minnesota are you from?

Franchi 48AL. My son used to shoot one when he was 12. They are very nice and reliable. There are lots of used(not abused) ones out there too.

light 20

i have a remington 1100 LT20 and it is great. that is what i use is for (bird hunting). only weighs about 5-6 pounds.

Concur. The 1100 Special Field here at casa del 9mm is essentially the same as the LT20 but with an English stock and 21" barrel. It is a wonderful gun, IMHO.

Skip the 11-87, the 1100 is a better gun.

I have a Browning Gold, a 391, an 1100, and 11-58 and a couple pump 20's. The Gold and 391 are head and shoulders better guns than anything else you can buy. They cost accordingly as well, but if you can spare the extra money by all means do it. I usually end up taking the Browning, I don't have a valid reason why though. Both the Gold and 391 move like a dream, are reliable, and carry very well.

If you are out on long hikes the Montefeltro is almost half a pound lighter than the others. It is a reasonable quality gun also.
