got a new p32 kel tech this weekend and really like it,was wanting to know whats the best hollow points to feed in it and what the hardend chrome finish looks like?is the chrome shiney or a matt finish?and is there any problems with these little guns? thanks alot

Personally, I'd stick with full metal jacket with these guns.

Penetration into vital organs is key, and the FMJs give you the best chance of that.

I agree with the previous post... FMJ's are probably at least as good, and probably better.

32 acp hollowpoints dont reliably expand from short barrels, and their design limits penetration.

I also agree with using FMJ but for a different reason. The P-32 mags are long enough (front to back) to take either HP rounds that usually have a shorter over all length and FMJs that have a longer OAL.

Some P-32 owners experience something called "rim lock" where a lower cartridge in the mag slides forward a little and it's rim locks in front of the rim of the cartridge above preventing the top cartridge from feeding. Rim-lock occurs more often with HP rounds as they have more room to slide forward and back.

Other factors in rim lock are how carefully you load the mag, strength of the mag springs and the rim geometry which varies according to the brand of brass.

If you use HP for carry, test thoroughly. (You can also safely use an HP for the round in the chamber and FMJ for the ones in the mag.)

They usually work well with Silvertips.

Normally I might agree with the FMJ restriction, but under the circumstances that these guns would be used, I believe that they will have adequate penetration with JHPs.

They're very shootable and by the time you start cranking out lead, you should be close enough to make face shots--or at least head-on chest shots which only require 3-4 inches of penetration to reach vitals.

Provided your attacker's skull doesn't simply deflect the .32 bullet.

Don't laugh, it's happened often enough (even with .45 ACP  ) to prove that the skull is damned good at what it does -- protect the brain.

Of course, there are lots of people out there whose skulls are simply wasting effort. :)

Speaking from experience with my own pair of P-32s, the Fiocchi JHP and Federal Hydra-Shok have both worked fine. The Fiocchi is the faster of the two.

Good luck.

Cor-Bon's .32ACP is the hottest conventional JHP in the caliber. Early on they had some feed problems, but I hear they changed the depth at which they seat the bullet and it's fine now. Thelma carries Cor-Bons in her P32 and they work fine since the feed ramp was polished.

I got a box of the new RBCD super-fast prefragged ammo in .32ACP. It's supposed to be as effective as a conventional .38 special. It had a couple of feed-ramp hangups (flat-nosed, soft bullet is to blame I think) so we passed that option by.

As for rim-lock, the way to avoid it is to tap the back of the magazine on the edge of a table after you insert each round.

Ammo for Kel-Tec

Just got one this past week (for my wife to carry). Took it into the range. Ran a full box of Cor-Bon's thru it..no problem. Also fired a full box of Winchester solids...no problems. Guy at the shop (ex-military) told me that they were very accurate for a small pistol. I am NOT a good pistol shot and kept 5 in a tennis ball size group at 20 feet. All three guys in the shop carry them as primary or back-up. Supposedly the Cor-Bon's have the same whack as a 38+P. I got the side clip (really good idea) and parkerized finish. This gun is great IMHO.

Formally, I used the Fiocchi FMJ and their SJHP...

The Fiocchi ammo was about the hottest .32ACP going. However, I just switched to the Cor-Bon .32ACP HP because they have made the cartridge a little longer. (OAL) Works well and is very hot.
However, everything has shot well in my hard chrome P-32. I do believe the Cor-Bons are very much hotter than Silvertips.

Corbons are ouch! Just like the others said, like a 38 +p but like that out of the Airlite. Hydra shoks are great. Shoots nice, never jams(so far). silver tips always work. Glasers work too. mine is surprisingly accurate to 25 yards. It groups low, about 6 inches but that's probably me. It hard to keep it steady. What really helps is a stop behind the trigger made from an eraser or any rubber material. Most of that pull comes from the trigger hitting the frame. Your p32 should shooot just about everything. Good Choice!!! My current favorite pistol...last one was the g33...

In quest of +P for a P32

I noted earlier that even the 32acp Cor-Bons don't really approach the .380 in fpe. This project on GoldenLoki.com does.
http://www.goldenloki.com/guns/keltec/glexp.htm

Thus I would love to see some real +p+ factory 32acp ammo from Aguila or some other manufacturer since, apparently, the P32 can handle it with only a change in recoil springs - just like the Ruger P90 can handle .45 super with only a change in springs.

I would also jump on a .380 upgrade to the P32 but, after KelTec's experience with the P11/P40, they may be reluctant to do that.
