Best Hi-Caps for a Kimber?

It really irritates me that my Kimber often fails at the least convenient of times. Why doesn't the world's recognized best (production model) 1911 have a magazine to match? Do I need to suffer at every IPSC competition on account of a lousy magazine that has more FTFs than an Ethiopian soup line?

Reloading isn't fun in a 10+ stage either. It cuts into my score. What brand of hi-cap should I get? Wilson? McCormick? Disney? And where can I get one in a 12-16 round capacity?

IF YOU INSIST

8-rd mags are what work. I never win at matches, but my gun works.

If you require (?) more rds recommend 10-rd mag from Ed Brown.

If you need more rds than that you need a different gun.

Thanks, WESHOOT2... I already have the 8 and 10-round mags. I just thought there might be an 'exotic' one out there.

I would prefer a (single stack) mag of that order. The R.O. at the club has a 15 round custom hi-cap. He leads the competition every time on account of not having to reload (except when required). 1.5-2.0 seconds definitely cuts into my score. So if I'm going to catch up, I need to drop seconds, not mags.

SALIENT POINT -- SHOOTER NOT GUN

At the last match I attended there were seventy shooters. The overall winner shot Production Class (10-rd max, scores Minor, gear worn behind hip-center).

Not equipment.......

I know. But he's a good shot too. I'm trying to narrow the gap equipmentwise (don't know if that's a real word, but you get the point).

ME, TOO

But after six years I've found it still doesn't matter; I use 8-rd'ers in my 1911, and I still do better sometimes than with one of my hi-caps.

So I now use what I carry, and work on ACCURACY and SPEED.

If you're really interested in the 'equipment race' purchase a STI/SV 40 S&W hi-cap Limited gun, holds 20 rds.

Game or practice?

Kimber, Great Guns but..

The worst mags I've ever used. When I got my Kimber Ultra Eclise II the first thing I did was order Wilson Magazines. The gun is FLAWLESS with them. www.wilsoncombat.com

Get some.
