Since I got my Ruger Vaquero I never knew what a great hammer Spur was! For instance you almost need to reposition your hand to cock a Cap and Ball Colt, the Remingtons have even harder ( stronger springs?) pulls!
Nearly al semi autos have impossible hammers to handle!
The Average S&W has a somewhat small spur and is also a hard cocker.
Nearly al Colt Peacemaker clones have narrow small spurs but due to the geomitry are fairly easy to cock, However the New Vaquero wins the prize for the easiest to cock due to an excellent, longer thumbpiece than colt, hammer spur.
The Ruger is just at a natural position to handle and is larger affording better leverage and the generous horizontal portion has a long smooth area ending in a good knurled grip area.
I never thought much about making a big S/A easy to cock till I got the Vaquero!
The next time you're out "Cowboying it", see if you can get your thumb across a Vaquero!
