Best Grips

I have rosewood grips with a cross (diamond) cut on my 1911.

I have rented a Kimber with the rubber, finger groove grips but not much else.

What grips do you like the best and why???

Thanks

I put Pierce finger grooves on mine, I like them a lot. They fit under the wood grip, so you can maintain your style. I think they cost $8.00.

I forgot to tell you why I like them. I like the finger grooves, because when you draw from your holster its easier to get the same grip repeatedly.

I think fingergroove grips on a 1911 are evil. But hey, that's just me.

I really like the smooth grips that Mr. Blindhogg is selling for anywhere from $20 to $30.

Whoops. Just checked and it looks like he'll be MIA for a few months. But hey, here are mine:

Hey shouldn't that tape be on a skateboard?

Just poke'in a little fun Shmackey, had to respond to the finger groove comment you know.

:D

Nice gun, pretty grips

I LOVE me some skateboard tape. Well, actually, that's stair tape, but hey.

Nevermind the fact that stair tape costs approximately 1/200 what you'd pay for checkering; I think it's *better* (and replaceable).

Off to put fingergroove grips on my guitar...

Is there a big difference between the smooth wood grips and the checkered ones???
I have heard people say the rubber messes up the "feel" you get from the gun... removes the feel? What is that about?

Bullit has a good argument for finger grooves... any others for or against???

September11,
I have the checkered wood grips, I feel they add a good amount of extra grip to the gun. I added the finger grooves because I would sometimes grab the gun to low and have to re-establish my shooting grip before I could get on target. The grooves added a positive location for repetitive griping. I like them, they work for me, they improved my draw and hold so I use them.

My gun came with the front strap checkering that is so highly praised. I found it worthless. When your hands get sweaty, it just gets slick.

The gooves only cost $8.00 and take 5 minutes to put on. If you don't like them, you haven't lost much or just sell them to a friend.
