Best grips for 1911?

I have had my Bianchi groved grips for my Series 70 Gold Cup Colt 45 for over 25 years. Time to update!

What grips do you fellows recommend for the 1911 platform? I want something nice, probably with finger grooves but I am open to alternatives.

(I hope I picked the right forum for this question per the recent admonishments)
 
For a relatively inexpensive set of over-the-counter grips with finger groves, you might take a look at Pachmayr's American Legend grips. I have a set on a Commander and find them really comfortable.

If you want something a little (or lot) more customized, wander over to Gungrips.net. They specialize in laser etched grips and are good folks to deal with. Here's a set they did for me.

Hogue, Pachmyer American Legend series...

To me, Guy Hogue & the Hogue family are the best for handgun grips.
You couldn't go wrong with their products.
I remember Pachmyr(check spelling) having a wood/rubber finger groove type grip but I don't know if 1911 pistol models are still for sale.
A major website like Midway-USA or Brownells may still have some.

Other firms may sell 1911 series pistol grips but Im not aware of any rubber or groove types. You may want to go "high tech" and add a CT lasergrip; www.Crimsontrace.com .
The bright red laser could be used for defense or target shooting.
NOTE: a lasergrip MAY not fit some 1911a1 models if it has a ambi safety.

I shoot my 1911s best when they wear them cheapest Hogue pebbled-rubber NO-finger-grooves stocks.
Even my $4500 Caspian.
 
Depends on what you want to do with the gun. If for looks, you can't beat a nice set of wood grips. If it is for work, then forget the looks and get the ugly ones.
