Best Grip for VERY Small hand Sq. Butt K Frame

Wife just picked up an older S&W 66 4", but needs to downsize the grip. Any suggestions as to the best grip for a very small hand?

grip

uncle mikes boot grip. You may have to order because most dealers only keep the round butt version. I have the sq butt on a Smith model 15.

What grips are on it now? The M66 is often seen with the oversize target grips and these are too big for most people. I found after much trial and error that the standard "Magna" service grips are best for those of us with short fingers. In particular, the older style with the diamond around the grip screw feel a tad better, yet. These can be found for $10-$20 at gun shows or on ebay. If you really hunt you can find them even cheaper. I have bought several sets for $5 or less. I put them on all my S&Ws.

Ditto the Uncle Mike's (Butler Creek) boot grips for sq butt K frame for about 15-20 bucks. If you want to spend more 50-60 bucks for nice wood in the same configuration, the Eagle Secret Service grips (www.eaglegrips.com) can be ordered in square butt configuration. I put a pair of Rosewood SS grips on a Model 28 and like them a lot. You can get them checkered or un-checkered. Good luck.

If you can't go total custom, get a pair of Hogue's hard Nylon MonoGrips. These look like the rubber Hogue's but are made of a Nylon that can be reshaped to suit the individual.

Ditto the Uncle Mike's boot grip. CDNN has what appears to be the same grip for $3.99 . I don't think you will find them cheaper than that.

S&W 66 small hand advice

I have sold thousands of Pistol grips and own both the 66 and the 60 5 shot J frame grip. My best advice is to trade the 66 in on a J frame 5 shot 2 inch barrel model 60 or get her a round butt K frame pistol. My wife loves my Model 60 that was my off duty weapon as a Deputy Marshal.

Hello. I have regular to large hands, but do like the standard service stock and a grip adapter on the 4" Model 19.

Just a thought.

Best.

Just received and placed on my security six a pair of eagle secret service grips. These grips have a very thin profile and fill the area behind the trigger guard. My wife has very small hands but thought these felt really good. May not be the best things for full magnum shooting but for lower power loads should be good. I am pleased with them as I wanted them for CCW. Profile is great and they feel good when gripping the gun. You can order a pair for the K frame, should be about the same size. If you don't like them send them back. There is a 15% restocking fee. Mine aren't going back. I have a pair of hogue bantams on my round butt 66, I like these eagles better.

Agree with Paul.....round butt K is hard to beat for small hands. 2½" RB 19 follows me around nearly everywhere.

There might be a couple of other options........you can have the grip re-profiled by a gunsmith to roundbutt configuration........and you could look at the grips that Wilsons sell......they might help as well.......fubsy.

Final Results

Thanks again.

Here is what we ended up doing. Both guns went to the gunsmith for trigger work. The M66 now sports the Jerry Miculek Competition Grips. They are as thin as possible, but a bit long. The Ruger trigger is now 90%+ as good as the S&W. Really nice improvement.

Look at Mr. Camp's pic of his S&W model 19 very carefully.
The use of the "Tyler T" grip adapter is certainly a viable
option; as it tends to fill the gap between the grip and
trigger guard. Only problem is, the "Tyler T" might be
difficult to find in most gunshop's?
