local dealer has just recieved a new 245 sig and a new 30 glock..both are 45 compact..both are $599 whick should I choose both feel about the same..which is the better buy and the better gun

Whichever one feels best to you.
They are both good pieces. I have a M30
and, at least for me, it is the best compact
45acp made. However, I am partial to Glocks.
I have 3. Let us know what you pick and

I don't know what gun prices are like in your area but the P245 is generally priced a bit higher than the Glock, thought that price seems high for either gun.

Get the Glock!

The main reason is that you can get parts for Glocks.

With the way this thing is going availability of parts is going to become an issue.

Do you want ten rounds or six? Will you ever carry it IWB? What are your needs?

Both those prices are VERY high. I live in Southern California which has the highest retail prices for firearms in the U.S. .

My local gun store has the Sig for $550 and the Glock for $450-$500 depending on the model (fixed sights ect..). Both are on sale frequently for less.

I suggest you try a different gunstore or search ( www.shotgunnews.com ) for a FFL close to you who might transfer a gun from a cheaper source.

If you don't mind paying such a high price, the Glock 30 is the better gun.

Ron- I thought in one of your other posts you sort of stated that you didn't like Glocks because they looked ugly and that looks were important to you? Well I own a bunch of Glocks and even though the frame size is different on some, they all look basically the same to me. :) I will say however that the 30 is my favorite Glock. The grip is a little wide for some people but I quickly adjusted to it and I have somewhat small to medium hands.

I held the checked out the 245 in Four Seasons a few months back while searching for a .45. Sigs have never felt great in my hand but thats just me.....

My suggestion is go for the Glock but it sounds like you didn't have a good experience with your last one.

Good Luck

those prices sound a bit high to me also. here in NJ glocks go for about $475 and the sig 245 was just a bit more.

as everyone as mentioned its what you need. do u need more rounds or a flatter gun? do you have big hands (G30) or small (245)?

i shot a G30 once and loved it. it was the most accurate .45 i ever shot and was easy to control in recoil (i hear different about the sig). the only complaint i had was the big grip which is a big concern for you.
just hold them both and see.

if it were me and i had hands that fit the glock i'd get the glock.

now that i think about it a fairer comparison is the sig 245 and the Glock 36. both have 6 rounds and are single stack.....but i'd still take the glock!

MuscleMcGee, are you sure Southern Cali has the highest gun prices? I live here too and I've seen them far higher elsewhere. For instance, I saw an HK Mark23 SOCOM for like $2,300 in some state and the same gun for $1,999 here. Also I've seen Glocks(brand new) for as low as $449. It varies from store to store but I think Cali has reasonable prices.
As for the Sig/Glock dilemma, I posted a similar question and got props about the Glock. I may go with that or the HK, which ever feels more comfy in my hand.

I happen to own both. They are both reliable, quality handguns. That said, I prefer the P245. I am more accurate with the P245. The P245 feels more solid in my hand and the trigger feels much better to me. Not that I'd get rid of the Glock, but if I had to choose, it'd be the Sig. Give them both a test drive if at all possible and that will tell the tale.

Clownfish, it also depends on the type of store your dealing with. The prices I listed are from a store that deals in high volume. Its the largest gun dealer in CA.

There are plenty of small pawn/gold and coin shops around the country just waiting to screw unknowledgable customers.

I've never shot the G30 cause it just dosen't feel right.. I've had the 245 now for about 2 months and I've been nothing but pleased with it. It's the most accuate .45 I've ever shot. But it all depends on how it feels in your hand.

I will only muddy the waters further. My Glock 30 will shoot with my Sig P220 any day. I don't care for the boxey look of the Glock and it doesn't like 200 gr FMJ SWCs. The Glock has the better trigger of the two. On the other side, my Sig doesn't like them either. Thank God for my Norinco that eats anything! Regards, Richard.
