Best Concealed Carry

Hey all, I have been thinking pretty heavily on getting a concealed carry permit here in Montana, which is very easy to do once i get a state license, but once i do i was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on what type of holster/brand if applicable i should get. I generally just wear jeans/tshirt and a light jacket/hoodie.

Anyways I'd appreciate Input and i'd also like to hear why you like what you're reccomending. Thanks a bunch

I have an XD40

concealment, draw, carry...

If you sit or drive vehicles a lot I would consider a well made shoulder rig like a Galco Miami Classic II or a Aker Comfort Flex. I prefer the shoulder holsters that have the off-side magazines in a horizontal mode. It frees up space on the belt-line.
A drawback of the shoulder holster is a slow re-holster method but its good for deep concealment in low threat areas or for armed citizens(CC license holders).
Strong side polymer rigs or top leather designs could work too. NOTE; custom shops or special holsters make take several months to get. Be ready to wait. Even now in the 2013 super-panic new gear or holsters may be delayed.
Many gun owners like Kydex or synthetic styles for ease of cleaning & wear/hard use.

I'm a big fan of the MTAC or Raven IWB systems. I find both comfortable. Not a fan at all of the shoulder holsters as recommended above...but it does have it's place for somebody that travels a lot.

For that width gun, I would get a shoulder rig. Not sure which one...an OWB pancake, might be ok too...something like a Milt Sparks?

All this shoulder holster talk is surprising to me. I'd never buy one unless I thought I was some big shot detective and wore a sport coat everyday. Not easy to conceal in warm weather.

I rock an IWB Galco Summer comfort most days and wear a custom made Kydex OWB "tactical style" holster other days.

I'd recommend Raven Concealment or Bravo Company for a kydex holster. They are very similar. For leather there are 101 holster makers that make nice work. Google "Holster thread" and see what forums come up with holster threads.

MTAC, Crossbreed, Theis for hybrids.

Milt Sparks, Brommeland, Del Fatti for leather.

You going to have a lot of trial and error to find out what works for you.

Quick question

I'm looking for suggestions for a holster for complete concealment for my full size Springfield XDM. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm having a hard time finding one! Thanks!

Post, XDm full size...

If it were me, Id look at a Blackhawk SERPA or maybe a SLS/ALS type synthetic design from Safariland.
See my post from above. If you prefer a shoulder holster(with 2 spare mags or gear on the off-side) then look at the models from Ted Blocker, Galco, Bianchi-Intl, DeSantis, Kirkpatrick Leather, Aker(Comfort Flex), Del Fatti or maybe Lawman Leathergoods; www.lawmanleathergoods.com .

For range/outdoor carry; get a top rated Bianchi UM92II holster. It's in OD, black, camo. It's based on the US military M12 pistol holster & it's been around since the mid-1980s. You can tote your big XDm pistol tanker, cross-draw, hip, SAS-leg, or shoulder. ;)

See www.natchezss.com www.uscav.com www.midwayusa.com .

It's like asking what is the best car to get.

I'd start with an IWB hybrid like Crossbreed, Theiss, or MTAC. Play with the adjustability. Be prepared to spend sone time and money finding what works well for YOU.
