Best commercial hunting load for 44mag? I do not reload and this will b my first year hunting with a pistol. Bought it last year and practiced alot. Just not sure what bullet to use. A lil advice will b greatly appreciated!

For those that may want a Lil more info: Im shooting a ruger hunter with 7.5 inch barrel! I tried tradition scopes but couldn't get used to that so I put a Burris quick fire on it and its amazingly accurate out to 100 yards which will b my max range shot

For Deer, the most accurate hollowpoint load will do just fine

For big Bears, I'd use a heavy JSP

There are no "bad" loads in 44 when it comes to hunting deer

I've killed them with 180 gr, 200 gr, 225 gr, 240 gr and 300 gr and they were all the same degree of dead

Hunting what? It matters.
In any case, the 20 round boxes are rifle loads. You don't want those in a revolver. You will have to try a box of as many brands and bullet weights as you can to find the ammo your firearm shoots best.

The best performing factory load I have used was Hornady XTP 240 gr. It was most accurate and put deer down as good as any other. As others have said shoot several and use the most accurate, but I would start with Hornady.

I've shot just about everything I can find! Hav'nt found a really bad load yet! Even the blazers shoot pretty darn good at 50 yds. Guess I'm not good enough to know the difference at 100 yet! Between 3 and 4 inch 6 shot groups! Deer, hogs, and occasionally a yote are my normal live targets! Most shots will b 50 yards or less! I will always have my rifle with me for extended shots! I only have one tag left to fill this year anyway!

Just looked back at my notes and targets! The winchester 225 grain razorbacks and the hornady leverutions seemed to b a hair tighter! 300 gr buffalo bore was by far the tightest at 75 but honestly kicked harder than I care to shoot! Enough for me to write ouch on the target!!!

3 and 4 inch 6 shot groups at 100 yards is pretty damn good shooting after only one year of practice. I'd say any of the hunting ammunition you practiced with ought work for you. Pick that which you think you did best with.

I haven't used factory ammo for many years, but most any major manufacturer makes good hunting loads. For deer outta a revolver or carbine, Federal makes several options, this is one of the better ones.....

240 gr Fusion

I shoot reloads only, but can tell you that the terminal performance of the Rem. 240 gr. bullets is excellent, far better than the Hornay bullets at revolver velocities, I would give the Rem. factory load a try. I do carry them for CCW, and them shoot well for my 4 in. barrels.

Thanks for the help! Sry I checked out on the conversation but my dad passed away suddenly yesterday! Massive heart attack while in the garden picking greens! 3 grand kids there with him all girls under 10 when it happened! I was only a couple hundred yards away sighting in my new 35 whelen when I heard the babies holler! It's sad but he died doing what he loved with who he loved!!!

I did some testing for that a few years ago.
Barnes all copper , 225 gr.
Swift A-frame ,260 [ ? ]
Speer [?] Deep Curl
The first two had the same recoil ,about the same as my under max handloads . Deep Curl had considerably more recoil so I gave it to a friend for his rifle.

The Barnes and Swift performed very well as did my old Seer JSWCHP ,225 gr. All accurate and suitable for up to about 60 yds for one shot kills on 300 lb deer.
I love my 44 mag !

Yes it can be seen as a loss, but as pointed out he passed quickly, where he loved, doing what he loved, surround by those he loved. We should all be so fortunate.

Winchester white box, 240 grain JSP. It's fairly stout and accurate in my opinion. It's a little dirty, but is a thumper when it hits something. I'd use it for Deer out to 50 yards or where I felt comfortable. My 4" is open sights...so I stick to 50.
