Best CCW's for max coverage

Are you asking which state's permit is recognized by the most amount of other states or are you asking which concealed weapon can best be carried in all fifty states with all the differences in temperature? Please clarify, FUD.

Greetings BarrySDCA,
I am assuming you are talking about Non-Resident permits. Florida has the most Reciprocity with other states(16 states), followed by Texas, Utah & Arizona.
The only thing here is that, reciprocity with some states will overlap for these permits. For Example: Texas has reciprocity with Michigan, but so does Florida.

Then there are some states that honor only CCW licenses issued in that state. Example, Washington.

So You would go with Florida for a $117 which would give reciprocity with:

1.Arkansas 2.Georgia 3.Idaho 4.Indiana 5.Kentucky 6.Louisiana 7.Michigan 8.Mississippi 9.Montana 10.New Hampshire
11.N.Dakota 12.Tenessee 13.Utah 14.Wyoming 15.Texas 16.Vermont

Then the Texas permit for $143 will add:
18.Alaska 19.Arizona 20.Oklahoma

The Utah permit for $60 will add:
21.South Carolina

After that the rest are individual state permits which don't honor other state permits:
22.Maine 23.Washington 24.Pennsylvania
25.Oregon(issued only to contiguous states)

And then, there are states that have the CCW facility but are NOT 'shall issue':
26.Connecticut 27.Iowa 28.Maryland 29.Massachusetts & 30.Rhode island

So hypothetically, you can carry concealed in 31 states if you a include Florida.

NOTE: For your permit to be valid in Michigan and New Hampshire, you would have to be a resident of Florida.

Best bet is to start with Florida and Utah. Those will issue to non-residents and cover the most states. Then you can start picking up the individuals that you don't have covered like Mass., Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, and so on. Depending on what state you live in (you don't have squat in your profile) you are probably not eligible for a Texas non-resident permit.

It is my understanding that reciprocity is not the same for non-resident ccw. I read, where I do not know now, that some states that would honor a Fla ccw for a Fla resident would not honor it from a non-Fla resident. No idea about other states, which states, etc., just noted the descrepancy.

That's a lot of dough...might be better to hope Bush wins and that national CCW reprocosity bill goes through next session to make my CA permission slip work in all 50.

Thank you for all the information.

For carrying in MA you can pay $5,000.00, add 5 additional serial #'s (two visible under infrared light), and have a homing device attached under your skin to carry if a non-resident.

I thought it would be a little worse.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

I have a Ga CCW permit which only allows me to carry in a few other states..

Are ya'll sayin' that I can get a non-resident CCW (from Fla?) and it would effectively allow me to carry in the states that my GA permit does not allow me coverage in?

I'm seriously missin' the topic here..

Yep, that's right. The FL non resident CCW is a good one. Instead of a nation wide CCW though, we should be demanding a Vermont style. Anytime, anywhere, any way, no permit needed.

Or as Ted Nugent put it, "Yeah I have a permit to carry, it's called the friggin Constituion!"

I requested the FL permit application about 3-4 days ago and much to my surprise the paperwork came today.

When reading it, it said my name, address and all personal information is public record unless you are a peace officer (which I am not).

This personal information include my name, address, phone number and SSN#!

Can this be true? Everything needed for identity theft all here courtesy of the FL government! Please tell me it's not true!

That's because Florida is pre-corrupt. It's also where I'm moving to.
