Best bullet weight for Ruger M77 Bolt .308

I am picking up this rifle on Friday. Just curious what weight bullet you have all found to be the most accurate in this rifle. I picked up some 150 grain Remington rounds that I'm going to try. I'll be using the rifle strictly for target 100/200yds.

I shoot the 308 in 4 different rifles, Browning, M1A, HK770 and SL-7. I have found one consistant load for all 4. I shoot 168gr. SMK, or 168 Hornady VMax. Pushed by 45 grains of Varget. CCI primer. Browning delivers 3/4 inch groups at 200yds. the others deliver about 1 moa at a hundred.
 
Every rifle is different and you have to experiment to find the best bullet for the rifle. Shoot it alot with alot of different ammo and you will find the best. Do you handload?
 
What you are shooting with it is very important!

My Ruger M77, MkII, VLE likes:

GA Arms 150grn balistic tips the best - sub MOA if I do my part.

but it also shoots Federal's 180grn nosler partitions (for big hogs) MOA if I don't screw it up - -this is my hunting round.

Federal 150grn Fusions and GA Arms 165grn BTHP shoot close to MOA.

I haven't been able to get any groups to brag about with any military surplus ammo
 
For the non-handloader you will be amazed at the tight groups produced by Black Hills Ammo. Their 168 grain Match bullets are great for competiton but poor choice for hunting. Choose a good soft tip; 150 - 180 grains will get the job done.

Some Ruger's have stiff and heavy triggers. But a good smith can produce a crisp 3 - 4 lb trigger. How is yours?

I've always admired the Ruger stock profile and low luster finish. Many features anyone would sure appreciate.

I use 150 grain bullets in 30 caliber rifles. 150 Sierra HPBT Matchmasters for paper, 150 Hornady or Speer softpoint for deer, and 150 Barnes "X" for elk.

All three loads shoot to same pont of aim, so no need to readjust sopes. And they all do the job.
