Best Barroom Cover?

Bars seem like relatively high-risk areas, what common barroom object do you guys think would be best to jump behind if things were to turn ugly?

Pool-table?

The bar?

Would one of those tall electronic dartboards stop anything?

How about a video game machine?

Old-school jukebox? Newer jukebox?

typically I rush the closest participant and commence landing bombs...
But if that doesn't sound like fun right then... I would either hide behind the biggest sum buck (I hide real easy being fairly slight in dimensions) or better yet hide behind the front door as you scoot boots for the ride outta there!

In metro areas most bars have a security detail or bouncers. no figts or u get thrown out. Hell, I've been thrown out of bars all over the place even in other countries, lol and never had to throw a punch.

The bar itself would be a pretty good one depending on the angles of the shooters.

Jukeboxes may or may not stop boolletts, but a heavy jacket plus a jukebox just might do the trick.

More importantly is what NOT to hide behind: tables (tables do not generally stop boollets) and other people (that's just cold... just kidding, that actually might work).

Well, yeah, it's obviously best to get the heck out of there if you have any kind of warning. I left a bar early just last night because things looked questionable. The situation I'm thinking of is somebody opening fire without warning. A lot of bars are kind of tight, so you could have multiple objects to jump behind...

I could see using a bouncer like spacemanspiff as cover, but not all security dudes offer that much ballistic protection.:D

Been in a bar twice in my life. Second time ended up with a guy landing a punch on a cop and guns drawn. There won't be a third time. No better cover than not being there.

Feets Don't Fail Me Now!

An exit, one you know is not blocked. If you doubt me, run a search on The Station and Great White Fire. Not all your risks are drunken humans.

1. Avoid that kind of bar.

2. If you disregard 1, and you have enough time to get behind something, you probably have enough time to get out the door. Do so.

There was once a place in this area that was so bad folks said they had a metal detector at the door. If you weren't armed, they wouldn't let you in.

I would recommend against arcade machines. Most of them are basically hollow and wouldn't provide much protection at all. The best thing to do would be to get out of there, like previous posters have mentioned.

Isn't the primary use of cover not so much to stop a bullet, which is preferable, but to conceal your exact location? So tipping a couple of tables over, peeking out and making a break for the door would probably be the best bet if you are unarmed.

Or have the poker game and drinks at home with friends which would be my preference.

I think the best cover would be behind the back door. Far behind the back door. The farther the better, even.

No. Cover and concealment, when used to refer to tactical situations, have specific definitions.

Cover is specifically defined as something that stops bullets.

"Well I was cuttin' a rug down at a place called the Jug..."

Anyway... the bar is your best bet, and a good heavy table can be flipped over... but if one person can do so it ain't stopping any bullets. My advice is stay behind someone wider than thyself... Like Brent, I am on the 'trim' side so there are always a few good options. Fortunately, none of the barfights I've been in have involved guns, not that getting hit with a pool cue is any fun.

If you perceive the bar to be that much of a risk you probably shouldnt go. After about 10 drinks your probably not thinkin much about it anymore anyway. I dont recall ever having to hide at a bar in my life or take cover or whatever you want to call it.
