Best and most affordable 1911 Clone

The best and the most affordable are two very different things.

The Sistema isn't really a clone--might not be a Colt but that's a mil-spec real pistol. The Baby Eagle and Witness aren't 1911s.

The Sistema is a great deal and you don't hear anyone complain about them. Customize as you wish.

If you want a reasonable 1911 made in the second half of the last century, and you want to spend less than $500, that's where it gets very, very hard. The Springfield Mil-Spec is one of the few worth discussing. I would far sooner get one of those than drop an equal amount on a Daly, Wesson Pointman Minor, or worse.

If you are looking for the most affordable for the money which also possesses good quality I hear Kimber puts out a very good pistol if you don't want to go with the absolute best moneywise. I don't own one but have shot my buddies and they love them. I think for the money (around $700.00 and up) thats one way to go. I'm not familiar with any of the others you mentioned.

I have 2 Charles Daly 1911's and both are great guns, rivaling the accuracy and reliability of all th Kimbers I have put them against. I like them so much that I plan on getting a third. Some people claim that they are hit or miss, but so far all the ones that i have seen and fired have been great. I have not paid more than $350 for any of the Charles Daly's.

If you can find one, a Norinco is your best bet. Buddy of mine has one in almost perfect condition. He had it tested with a metalurgist(spelling?) against his Colt 1911A1...Turns out the Norinco had higher quality steel across the board.

Sistemas are a steal for the $ also, but theyre not a clone.

You really do have to set a price and find the best quality in that range, or set a performance level and not worry about price.

Everyone who has touched a Valtro seems to be madly in love with it.

for $1199, it is not exactly cheap, but compared to the Wilsons and the Les Baers, it sounds like a steal.

Sistemas for the quality and money.
Norincos are hard to find, but I encounter some very nice Sistemas at shows regularly, and fairly priced. I plan on getting one soon.
