Best .308 scope for $100?

I think you should wait. It won't do you any good to blow the $100, break or otherwise become dissatified with it, then you STILL have to spring for a quality scope AND are $100 in the hole.

I'm not saying you need to spend tons of money, lots of guys post how happy they are with TASCO SS series scopes for only a few hundred bucks.

Trust me, it almost never pays to go TOO cheap.

I concur... put off the purchase until you can buy a scope of higher quality that will last. If you plan on utilizing the rifle to extended ranges/accuracy you want the best scope you can afford... even if it means waiting.

You could also check some of the auction/sales sites on the web (like the one on TFL!!). You may be able to pick up a very decent used scope for not too much more $$$.

Tough question TCW. You can get a Simmons 44 mag series scope for $100. They have two versions of the 44 mag for $100. the first is a 3x10 and the second is a 4x12. I have heard mostly good reviews about this scope. If you order it through the site below you will get a free rifle rest along wit hyour purchase.

As stated above you could always wait and save your money and get a better scope. But if you have to have one now Simmons isn't a bad scope.

You can't go wrong with a -good- Simmons scope. I've used the Whitetail Classics and I just purchased a new Aetec. They seem to keep their zero quite well and have clear, bright optics.

Midway has the Simmons Whitetail Classic, adjustable objective, 6-20X50mm on sale for $99, including shipping. I have one mounted on my Bushy Shorty, and am really pleased with it. It's clear, the a.o. focus is distinct and sharp, and it holds zero just fine. I can shoot under 1" with it with cheap ammo, all day long.

You can buy a Simmon 3X9 variable for 19.99 over here.
It aint the best - but then again - it can get you through a season until you can buy a better one.

To me - frankly - I hate spendy optics.
I have had some of the best quality scopes you can buy... and broke them. To me - I dont want to break expensive things - so I'll stick with breaking cheap ones.
