Not being a gun snob or whatever the pop culture term of the day is...but there is not a $400 new rifle on the market that I would buy. With that said, there are several that for less than $100 more new...would definitely come home with me. And, $400 used wisely can buy one of a variety of nice used rifles. To each his own.JMO

In my opinion, the Vanguard is best rifle you have listed and one that I would absolutely buy, but I am not sure that you can find new one for $400...if you can, buy it.

@shootniron Then why comment? There's plenty of rifles under 400 that put down deer, elk, and whatever else just the same as a 2000 dollar rifle. May not be as pretty, or have an expendive feel, but theyll do the job without spending more than what's needed. IMO

Buy whatever you like, you are the one that has to be pleased. My suggestion was about value...but that is lost on some folks. Pardon me.

All of the above rifles are under 400. Lol and ik, I'm just saying. 'There isn't a 400 dollar rifle on the market I would buy '

My bargain rifle buy would be a Zastava M70 from KVAR for $540 but I would save up for a Tikka T3 or CZ 550 if I had patience. I like wood stocks.

Anything under 400? No.

Ya. Out of the 3 which is most accurate and durable? To me that's what matters, accuracy to hit the target and durability to keep hitting the target.

I had an FN Mauser JC Higgins Model 50 that I really liked, chambered in 30-06. Might try a search for a JC Higgins Model 51 in .270, should be around that price point. You can update the trigger if you like.

Marlin X7. My son picked up a used one with brand new Redfield for less than $300. New I just saw one with scope on Gunbroker for $399. Delivered free.
