Best 124gr+p load for glock19

Just switched to the Pro-Load 124s. These are great. Decent velocity and accuracy. I just requalified w/ them and shot 240/250. Dropped two rounds, what can I say. Anyway, I had been carrying the Triton, but the muzzle flash was too extreme for the environments that I work: crackhouses and alot of night time work. I love the Pro-Load ammo and John the owner is a great guy to deal with. Give a call, and he will talk ammo with you, to help ensure you get the right round for the job.

Take a look at Geogia Arms Shear Power Plus line of defensive ammo. They load a Gold Dot bullet to a nice warm velocity.

The 124 gr. load is advertised at 1200 fps.

It's good stuff.

I have a G26, and I shoot Remington Golden Sabers. They give good accuracy, and modest muzzle flash. I think that I might try the Proloads though, if I don't have to buy a thousand rounds just to do it.

If you liked the ballistic performance of the Triton Hi-Vels, but not the muzzle flash, give'em another try. Triton was suppose to have taken care of this problem.

Go with the round that is proven. The Federal 125 grain HydraShoks. Low recoil, low flash. My FBI/DEA agent friends like them better than their Black Talons!

Ok, folks, here is my two cents worth....

Gold Dot 124 Gr. +P, the load that New York City PD is using. 1220 fps! Flash suppressed. Accurate. Very reliable, I have personally shot thousands of these things, through SIG 226 and 229, others, and TONS in Glock M 19 Variant 1 (Finger Grooves and Light Rail). Work well in machine guns (HK MP5 and Colt 9mm Subgun). Nickel plated cases, mouth sealant, and primer sealant, to keep out oil, sweat, etc...

I have heard that New York is having good street success with that round, but have not heard specifics. They are hush-hush about that, some others are not.

Remember, there are no magic bullets.... Just some that perform better than others once the vital target area has been reached!

Slim, out.

The Fed HS is a 124 grain bullet. 1120 fps std pressure, 1170 +P+. The Rem GS 124 +P is 1180. The Speer 124 GD +P did 1220 from a P226, 1180 from a P228. The HS/GS expand a little more, the GD goes a little deeper. I heard of two shootings w the 124 GD +P through auto glass: both one shot stops, recovered bullets were .58 and .62. It works.

The DEA issued Rem 147 GS in 9mm last I heard (and Rem GS 165 in 40, Rem GS 230 in 45). The FBI the Fed 147 HS in 9, 165 HS in 40, 230 Rem GS in 45).

Your primary concern should be for reliability, reliability, and reliability, in that order, for any auto loading gun. Then you can worry about that extra 1% that seperates the "best" from the "worst" premium self defense round.
Nest, concentrate on actually hitting your target, or, accuracy, accuracy, and accuracy. Can't stop what you can't hit. And remember, a shot to the hand may not have the same effect as a shot to the chest, so shoot for effect, too.
Face it, you're going to miss. What makes you think that a round that goes all the way through your BG is MORE dangerous to innocent bystandards than the bullets that miss, and are still at FULL velocity?
Considder expansion as a bonus, as few hollow points really expand as text book perfect in HUMANS as they do in gelatin, or deer, or hogs, or goats......you get the picture.
HydraShoks have a good record, but are the least (statistically) accurate. Golden Sabers seem to have a good all around reputation, but little real evidence supports this, as few agencies actually issue this round, or are willing to make public the politically incorrect results of the bullets on the BG's (wouldn't want to violate their civil liberties, now would we?" Same for Gold Dots. Supreme SXT's are the updated untested/unproven new version of the old Black Talon. The PMC StarFire was designed by the same guy that designed the original HydraShok, and are prone to plugging and are very velocity sensitive when it comes to expansion.
That said, I carry 124gn+P GoldDots in my 3 inch PT111, and GoldenSabers in my 4 inch Sigma.

Remember, barrel legnth affects velocity. Velocity affects expansion.
