Bersa BP9cc

Any reviews or experience on here? I'm wondering if this is a good daughter gun with potential to pass to her when she gets older?

Seems small, light and easy to use.

Your thoughts?

The Bp9 is a great gun very reliable i carry one a lot. But be aware that the trigger (IMHO) is very light. So please take the time and practice your draws (with an empty gun of course) with your finger off the trigger.

I'm not trying to insult your ability, just know the trigger is light. However it is a great reliable gun and is built very well. Should last to pass it along to the daughter.

It is the Shields closest competitor in my book, with a better trigger, but that same trigger demands some training with it because that sucker is light. If they had offered it in .40 when I got my Shield I may have got the Bersa .

I fired two of these this weekend. I don't own a 9mm. But this one is acceptable for sure. Easy recovery. I would perhaps change the sights. You know they have .380 and .40 version coming out soon?

Reliable, accurate and comfortable to shoot. I carried one for awhile, but I've never been completely comfortable carrying a gun that doesn't have a manual safety, especially one with a short reset, light trigger like the BP9CC. Nothing wrong with the gun, that's just me.

I own a Bersa as a result of the high praise of the Bersa Fanclub. Nice folks, but I do not like the Bersa. I bought it brand new, and it failed on me on the second magazine. (Bersa Thunder .380)

Yes, it has a warranty for the original owner. The owner has to pay the shipping cost to a repair facility which is independent of the Bersa Factory. They took their sweet time retuning my pistol. I suspect the repair facilities serve their customers over warranty work. (30 plus days for my repair)

I also do not like the fit and finish of the Bersa. It is a far cry, in my personal opinion, from a nice pistol to pass on to your Daughter.

Go to a dealer and look at one and compare it to a Sig, S&W, Beretta and a few others. You will get what you pay for.

This is an opposing opinion to keep you from reading nothing but glowing reports.

For an inexpensive pistol, I would buy a SCCY CPX-2 first. USA make and great customer support. It even feels nicer than a Bersa.

Uh......yeah. Except that the OP was asking about the Bersa BP9CC....NOT the Walther PPK knockoff .380. VERY different animal.

Even Walther had lots of trouble (in the past) with the PPK design. Not defending Bersa on this, you understand, but the PPK-style 380 is the most problematic gun Bersa makes....and rather a weak design (which is why it has never been chambered in anything larger than 380). Frankly, it was originally designed for the 7.65 Browning (32 auto)....and would have been better off if not offered in anything more powerful than that. Even the relatively weak 380 creates problems and higher than normal breakage with this design. This is still somewhat true with the rather more expensive Walther- brand version of this design, even after all these years.

The other Bersas (the UC and HC series and the BP9CC) are quite well regarded.

I have not had a BP9 (so I can't speak for that one). But, I did have a UC9, which was quite excellent all round.

You are correct. I was aware of the OP's interest. It does not change the fact he needs to look carefully at any Bersa. Especially one he will gift to his Daughter in the future.

It also does not change the fact Bersa does not have a factory repair facility in the USA. As far as I know they still have independent repair facilities do their warranty work.

I always like hearing of your and any other gun owner's enjoyment of their firearm.

Lamarw,
Thank you for the dissenting opinion. I realize what you are saying and am glad you said it.

Others,
Thank you for your opinions.

Basically, I have 4 women in my immediate family. All enjoy 22lr shooting. When I bring out my Kahr P40, XD, 1911, etc, they run for the hills. The only gun I've seen any of them shoot was a friends full size(for a 380)380. As these lady's get older, I'm trying to ween them off the 22 and onto something they could carry.

After much thinking and analysis of their whinning, I've determined that they don't like the larger unisex(more male than female) grip frames of most guns. They want a women's sized gun. This looks close and possibly could be enough gun to carry.

I know, there are so many better guns. They don't care.

I know, I could reason with them about the value of a better gun. I've tried. Heck one of them lived a block away from the ghetto in a rough city and still relies on pure dumb luck. I gave her pepper spray, trained her to use it....she lost it in her purse. That one has lots of learning to do before the SD mindset is even close to being understood. I have more hope for the younger ones, but I need to strike while the iron is hot!

I bought a BP9cc recently and have put ~ 500 rounds through it. I love it. It is light and compact yet still solid. The trigger is light and smooth and accuracy is acceptable for a short barreled pistol. Great price point, usually, also. However, reassembly is a nightmare. I burned calories in obscenities trying to put it back together the first time. Now that I am used to it: not a problem anymore. It would not cycle HP until after a return to a warranty center. They polished the barrel and now functioning is 100%. Be aware of your thumb position; the slide release is easy to rest your thumb on. The slide never locked to the rear until this was noticed by an observer. I am glad I bought it. It is a great little shooter and is now my carry pistol during jacket and coat weather. Enjoy.
